My wife and I took our 3 daughters to see Ottawa for a long weekend. After much searching we decided to stay at the Lord Elgin. A historic hotel without the extreme cost of the Chateau Laurier. The hotel is central to everything you want to see. Walking distance to Rideau Canal, Parliament Hill, National Art Gallery, Museum of Natural History, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Rideau Shopping Center, etc!! The room was a good size with two queen size beds. There was enough room for us to bring our cot for our 3rd child to sleep on. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was recently remodelled and was beautiful, the door was a sliding door without a lock, I thought that was odd. One point never again will I share 1 room with my wife and 3 teenage daughters. 1 bathroom was not even close to being enough but we made it work. We had brunch on the Sunday in the hotel restaurant and it was reasonably priced for a hotel brunch, $19 per adult. There is a Starbucks on site which was fantastic for my wife and kids. As far as I could tell there is no parking nearby. We used the valet which we don't mind paying for. The valet drivers were great guys. Answered questions about the area. Gave us fresh bottled water everytime we got in the van. Great group of guys. There were a few events happening at the hotel but it was never loud and never seemed busy. We had a great view out the front of the hotel, thanks fo the free upgrade! All in all would absolutely stay here again!

Room tip: Ask for a free upgrade to a view of the park or pay the extra $10 per night, it is well worth it.

We combined a graduation with attendance at the 100th Remembrance Day ceremony at Canada's War Memorial. We were able to step out and be at the memorial within two blocks. The hotel is very central, on a nice boulevard and is nicely appointed. The rooms are large and ours has clearly had a makeover since the hotel was built in 1941. Pretty good restaurant on site. The only downside of note, for us, was the cramped entrance. Parking is all valet and, because the entrance area from the street is small, one has to wait out congestion to pack or unpack a vehicle.

Room tip: Rooms which face the street are brighter, and one can watch a parade from inside, if such an event is taking place.

My family and I had a quick one night stay at the Lord Elgin as we were visiting Ottawa for the Remembrance Day ceremony. The hotel has preserved its old and historic look but the rooms are lovely and modern. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower very spacious and beautifully appointed. We had 2 beds that were comfy. Room had a Keurig and a fridge. The hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby as well. The hotel is perfectly situated and within walking distance to all important historical sights as well as the Byward Market and Rideau Centre. Will definitely stay there again upon return to Ottawa.

UNB alumni gathering in one of their guest rooms. Smallish crowd but the food choices and service were awesome. We stopped for a beer at the adjacent bar just outside and had a couple of local brews. Both great, cold, and wet.

We stayed one night only ; a Friday ; drive up about 8PM ; entrance drive is busy but still space for everyone ; front desk efficient check in; parking is easily taken care of by the valet, cost $30 is good deal for us ; just leave keys with those guys.

Room is clean ; two queen beds ; linens good quality ; washroom is clean, lots of hot water ,towels good quality.
Have good quiet sleep. Check out is seamless.

We leave car there for the day; pick up at 4PM, no extra charge ; car is promptly brought around by the valet;

Hotel is old but is recently renovated; all appears new and good condition. Feels classy .

We will return when next in Ottawa
