We took the #97 bus from the airport, which cost $3.40 each, and left it at Albert & Metcalfe to find ourselves directly opposite the front door of the hotel. When we left for the airport at the end of our trip we took the return bus outside the hotel's back door. We had a suite on the third floor which was satisfactorily furnished with two queen beds in the bedroom and a double sized sofa bed in the living area. The living room also featured a large dining table. The queen beds were very comfortable but the sofa bed mattress could have been thicker for comfort. We were conscious of street noise since it is on a main bus route but did not affect our sleeping. The free room Wi-Fi works but is weak at times. We did not extensively use the kitchenette's features except for the microwave and refrigerator. The hotel has a pleasant restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. We ate breakfast there once and found it of moderate quality and the sole waitress was run off her feet at times. The hotel's general location for tourist sight-seeing is excellent with most places within walking distance. Very near the hotel is a Tim Horton's and a nice small supermarket. The service we received from the front desk personnel was excellent at all times. All floors are accessible by two elevators or the stairs. Overall our three night stay very satisfactorily met our needs.

Room tip: The top floor should be the quietest, particularly at the back

If you plan on spending no time at the hotel, Capital Hill might be okay: it is close to main attractions, staff are pleasant, and beds are comfortable. But, I was surprised about the $100 deposit taken at check-in, the hair on the bathroom ceiling when I arrived (after three days, I finally removed it myself), and occasionally hearing other voices through the vent. The design — inside and out — is dated and poorly constructed in some areas, but apparently they are in the process of renovating. I don't regret choosing Capital Hill (mainly because it was free through British Airways points), but I wouldn't stay here again; downtown Ottawa is not large so most hotels will be central by default. I would only recommend these accommodations for youth groups or young families.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry if the credit card hold was not fully explained to you upon check-in. It is actually a standard industry practice which you will find at hotels throughout North America and abroad, and is to cover any incidentals that may be incurred during a stay, such as parking, restaurant charges or long distance calls. The balance of the hold is released upon check-out.

This winter we began updating our guest rooms, and prior to summer, 76 out of the 155 rooms were completed. We halted work during the peak travel months, and will recommence after Grey Cup in the late fall to meet our Spring 2018 deadline. We have already had terrific feedback on the changes, and hope that you will consider staying with us again during your next visit to see the first hand the improvements we have made.

With thanks and kindest regards,

A comfortable room with rather hideous hotel furniture. You could see that the bathroom had been sort of updated because someone hadn't measured properly and the door banged on the bath. Nice and quiet, pleasant staff. As there is no minibar, no room service I was rather surprised to be asked for a hundred dollar hold on my credit card. As seniors we are unlikely to throw wild parties.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We're sorry to hear that you were not a fan of the furniture in the room. We've been working to modernize the look of the space, so this winter we changed all of the soft furnishings, desk chairs, bedskirts, bedrunners, mattresses, drapes and lighting. 76 out of the 155 rooms also have new carpeting, wallpaper and artwork. We have halted the renovations during the peak travel seasons and will recommence after Grey Cup in the late fall to meet our Spring 2018 completion date. We've had great feedback regarding our fully updated rooms, and do hope that you will be able to stay with us again, to see the completed updates.

When arriving, parking the car is a little challenging as the parking area was small and quite full, the entrance was a tight squeeze. However the valets directed us to a place with no real hassle.
Check in was quick, the receptionist was nice and welcoming, and mentioned that we'd been upgraded.
The room on the 7th floor was very nice. Two queen sized beds, separate kitchen area, nice well lit bathroom. Large non opening window lets lots of natural light in.
Beds very comfortable, Air Conditioner was very quiet. Sleep quality is good
Check out the next morning was equally quick, and a valet moved another car to allow us to get to ours, but we were asked if we'd like the car brought around to the front of the hotel, which is nice.
The location is superb, 3 minutes to Parliament Hill, 15 minutes to the Byward Market area with it's pubs, restaurants and clubs. We will be back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience staying with us. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your accommodations, and that our staff were able to assist with parking the car and bringing it around for you. Unfortunately, we do work around a smaller size parking lot (with overflow parking kitty corner to us), and appreciate your acknowledgment in how helpful the staff were; we will be certain to share our positive comments with them.

We love to hear that you'll be back! We look forward to hosting you again.

Very convenient location for access to the standard attractions.
At the time we stayed, there was a minimum 4-night booking. We only needed 3 nights. otherwise, rates would have been very reasonable for location.
Restaurant open only limited hours.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. I suspect that you may have been staying over the Canada Day 150th celebrations. As it happens, we do sometimes follow the same procedures as other hotels and other industries, where we may sometimes be required to implement a minimum night stay policy. This however, does allow us to ensure that rooms are then set aside for those guests wishing to stay longer during peak event times. We do hope that you will consider staying with us during your next visit, so you that you can continue exploring Ottawa and all of the amazing tourist attractions that are so close by to the Hotel.
