It is hard to ask for more in a one-night stay. We had a large suite with fridge and microwave, a good desk, two TVs and comfortable bed. It was a completely quiet night. The bathroom is large with a good walk-in shower and hot water.

Lots of parking and all the staff were very friendly. Really nice breakfast with lots of variety and a large seating area. For our purposes the location is great as it is a short drive to the 416 and then south to the 401 - we avoided downtown traffic and were quickly on our way. We would definitely stay here again.

I brought a complaint to the General Manager Dave Fowler about an issue I experienced regarding a flight cancellation due to weather and a room cancellation charge. 12 hours notice provided.

He replied "being in the travel industry, we certainly understand situations beyond our guests control can present themselves that can alter travel arrangements. We are flexible with our 48 hour cancellation policy based on this".

I recieved an email stating this situation doesnt apply and no explanation as to what situation would. The room charge stands for a room I was 500 miles from in an ice storm.
Poor customer service.

Very clean rooms, lots of parking and great staff.
Location is not prime, and the restaurant is only open for the breakfast buffet.
Otherwise you eat out or order delivery.

Coffee always available in the lobby.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Kanata with our daughter's basketball team. She plays on a competitive team and we stay at hotels at least one a month. We have never experienced such a strict noise policy. At 10:30pm the security guard on duty began chasing our girls around the hotel. He would be waiting at the elevators so that he could yell at them as they got off. He stood outside our room where our 11 year old and 13 year daughters were hanging out with a friend. They were not playing music, they did not have the TV on. They were scared when they looked out the peep hole to see a man they did not know waiting at their door. He told them they were being too loud - talking. My 11 year old was in tears she was so scared. It was creepy and inappropriate how this man chased groups of young girls around the hotel. We do not recommend this hotel for teams or large groups.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing our hotel while visiting the area and for taking the time to share your feedback.

I am very sorry to read of the perception that has been left with you of our hotel and for the overall experience you and other team members had while staying with us. We recognize the importance of providing a separate space in the hotel for team members to gather as a group. This not only helps increase the satisfaction of the team members themselves but helps avoid other guests staying in the hotel not part of the group from being impacted by disturbances as we have seen through our experience, even small gatherings of people just having conversations together, voices can raise which then travel and disturb other guests, especially when it is after hours.

I have discussed your particular comments above with our overnight employee and security personnel and learned that one of our meeting room spaces on the first floor was provided to your team as a location to gather. From what I understand, this space was utilized by the parents, which left children 11 years old and younger to be left unsupervised. Unfortunately, It seems that our staff were fielding complaints from other guests from noise caused by these children. I am certain that your children had no intention to cause disturbance to others, however unfortunately it seems that they did. When complaints are received, we have the obligation to make every effort to ensure they are addressed and prevent them from occurring further. I believe there was no intention on both our security and employee's part to make you or your children feel this way and do apologize for this.

If you would like to review this further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me by phone at 613-280-1001 or by email dave.fowler@marriott.com

Winter storm in Toronto.........all flights to Ottawa cancelled. 16 hours notice given to cancel the room but charged full rate. No consideration given for extenuating circumstances.
There are better more reasonable choices in the Ottawa area.
