The wandering dog is a true gem on Pelee Island. If you are visiting you MUST stay here. We stayed in the family suite and it was very comfortable and well decorated, and well-stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cathy and Kevin go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and create a relaxing laid back environment. The main house is adorable and very inviting, and a great place to sit and enjoy the many delicious breakfast options. Pelee Island is a rejuvenating escape into nature and the wandering dog inn is perfectly located to enjoy all that the island offers.

Our favorite place of 2020. Cathy, Kevin and Fred (the Wandering Dog) made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. As we pulled in Cathy drove in right behind us with Fred in the passenger seat. We were about an hour early but Cathy informed us that our room was clean and ready. As we conversed Kevin stepped out of one of the cottages with a bag of garbage in one hand, and an array of cleaning supplies in the other. Comically he shouted, "HOUSEKEEPING!" and we all had a laugh. Later in the day while speaking with Kevin we learned that he has a great work ethic and an even better sense of humor!
The property is beautiful, full of history and immaculately clean. Even in the "Covid" era we felt safe and well taken care of. The Inn is close to beaches, conservation areas, trails, places to bike and sight see. Innkeeper Kevin stopped in to check on us along with the other guests throughout the evening, and even took the time to set up the campfire for us to light when we were ready. We roasted marshmallows, drank local wine and conversed with some new friends that were visiting from the north. In the morning Cathy made us delicious breakfasts and put them in environmentally friendly travel containers for us to enjoy as we waited for the morning ferry.
Of all the many great places that we stayed over the summer of 2020 my wife and I both rate this as our #1 favorite spot this year.
I cannot wait to visit again!!!

The Wondering Dig is the place to make your trip to Pelee what you need it to be. For us - it was to drive an old car, eat good food, and be disconnected from technology and the larger world. Cathy and Kevin have figured out how to do all this , very well, in a pandemic. The charcoal grills, the hammocks in your personal front porch, and the perfect personal breakfasts allow you to pace your day to meet your needs. They have thought of options like buying packages for lunches and suppers and the perfect evening fire. Then add Fred AKA the wondering dog and you feel right at home. Cathy and Kevin you have met the challenges of our times and stepped things up. Pelee Island should be very proud of your ability to continue to offer service that we want to come back to. We live this place and will be back for more time at The Wondering Dog!

To say our stay at the Wandering Dog exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Cathy and Kevin were wonderful hosts taking care of all our needs from setting up the bbq, providing useful island tips to an exceptional brekkie every morning. Despite COVID restrictions they have thought of everything to make you feel at home.
We had the King Suite in the back and it is very spacious and welcoming. More than enough room for the 2 of us.
Thanks again Cathy and Kevin for making our 3 nights at your Inn so memorable.

I cannot say enough great things about our wonderful stay at the Wandering Dog Inn. We stayed in one of the suites and were very pleased with the space. We especially loved the private screened porch with our own hammock. Kevin and Cathy made us feel like we were not just guests, but friends and I enjoyed our daily interactions with both of them. (And the real wandering dog, Fred, was very friendly as well!) The Inn and property are very well kept and give off a wonderful island relaxing vibe. The service and food quality were top notch! The breakfast exceeded our expectations and had lots of variety. We also enjoyed meeting new friends each night around the campfire.
We love this beautiful property and charming historic inn. We are already looking forward to coming back next summer.
