The Chisholms in Stratford
Ranked #12 of 88 Stratford B&B and Inns
Reviewed 15 June 2010

I have stayed at Chisholms for the past three years and I love it. The hosts, Kent and Diane make you feel so welcome and their knowledge of both the theater and the town of Stratford are part of the reason I like staying in this B&B. Both are very involved in "behind the scenes" activities in the theater. The breakfast is wonderful - the fresh fruit everyday is fantastic and I really appreciate the fact that they make every effort to buy fresh, local meats and produce to support the area farmers. The house is tastefully decorated, the rooms very comfortable . There are snacks, coffee and tea available 24 hours a day. Many pleasurable hours have been spend after the 8pm show sitting in the parlour with friends, enjoying good wine and even better conversation. It's like coming home when we arrive at Chisholms. Looking forward to my next visit in August.

Relaxing, all amenities a visitor could ask for. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, all needs were met. The breakfasts were delicious and elegant and Kent's knowledge about the actors and the plays made us feel like we had a peek behind the scenes of Sratford. This is definitely the B&B to stay in.

The hosts, Kent and Dianne Chisholm, are a very warm and welcoming couple. We truly enjoyed the background stories of Stratford and the plays/actors that Kent shared with us. The B & B was very comfortable and we will be returning in the fall 2010 for another stay!

We were greeted professionally and warmly both on telephone and in person.
As it is early season, we were shown two rooms and given a choice. Neither was inferior to the other. Each bed sitting room was spacious with ensuite bath, electric fireplace, mini -fridge (stocked with complimentary water & soft drinks), coffeemaker, fixings and snacks, wine glasses , tumblers and mugs: Two comfortable armchairs and state of the art satellite tv, dvd .wi-fi. We did not need the ceiling fans or air conditioning but noted for future.
The four poster bed was comfort plus. Everything was spotless and the decor lovely.
The location is a short walk to the Festival Theatre or down to the river. It's a bit longer walk to main shops. Although it's on the main street, it is set back on a corner and we found it very quiet and convenient.
Breakfast in the dining room was delicious and beautifully presented.
There is also a lounge for guests off the dining room, with a computer you can use and more coffee/teamaking supplies and snacks. Loved it - no complaints.

I have been staying at the Chisholms for over 10 years and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I go to Stratford. The rooms are lovely as is the entire house. It has every "modern" gadget without losing any of its old world charm. Breakfast is fabulous. Best of all, Kent and Dianne Chisholm are wonderful hosts who are willing to accomadate all your needs and then some. They are also willing to share their passion for the town and the theatre festival. Each year I have been staying longer and longer -- started staying two nights and am now up to 10! It's a highlight of my year.
