Every year we go to Stratford to see a few plays and stay at some lovely B&B's. This year we decided to stay at The Bruce Hotel which was a real treat. From the moment we arrived to check in to the moment we left the service could have not been any better. The staff was incredible, the service was awesome and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We are excited to return next year when we once again travel to Stratford, ON.

In late August, 2017, my companion and I went to Stratford, Ontario, to watch a play. We stayed overnight at the Bruce Hotel. The service at Bruce Hotel was absolutely superb.

During check-in, we mentioned we had forgotten our bathing suits. The receptionist assigned a staff worker to shop for two bathing suits on our behalf. A short time later, we received our bathing suits allowing us to use the hotel's pool and spa. The cost of the bathing suits was a measly $15 Canadian each.

Our room number was 2501, a King Garden View, $510 Canadian, per night. The room was clean and spacious. The Bruce Hotel is not a grand hotel but it does have a classy feel.

The Hotel grounds were well manicured, clean and beautiful. The Bruce Hotel deserves a five star rating and I would not hesitate to stay at the Bruce Hotel again in the future.

I loved staying here as the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We loved being able to sit outside and have coffee in the morning. Loved the plush robes. They had paid attention to every detail and it shows. I am coming back next month and cannot wait to be pampered again. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and efficient. We ate outside on the patio for three nights and it was worth it. We also had great drinks at the bar too - little pricey but worth it.

Room tip: I do not think that they have a bad room in the hotel.

Stratford has long lacked a true luxury hotel and in The Bruce it has found one (established 2014). Sited among carefully designed gardens, which probably need a few more years to reach complete maturity, the new building is already acquiring a ell-established look. The design is impressive -- there are large public spaces, a very comfortable lounge in the main lobby, and broad corridors. The rooms are, as others have remarked, large -- high ceilings, big window, lots of space. Our room had a long sofa, but curiously no arm chairs or any facility where one could sit and read, though there is plenty of space for it. The bathroom is also spacious, up to date, and could itself accommodate a chair or two -- that's a spatial comment, not a recommendation!
The restaurant also has a large room and an outside terrace. I would recommend taking the terrace to avoid the sound effects inside. The main dining room is noisy, and needs something -- sound absorbers, acoustical baffles, anything.

I can imagine that sustaining the very high level of service at the Bruce is costly, and you must expect that the prices match the outlay. And given that it is located in Ontario's snow belt, with the festival's down season stretching from October to April, it must have some budgetary challenges. You do pay a price -- relais-chateau prices, really -- but for a relais-chateau level of accommodation. .

Room tip: There is a busy street about 50 yards from the hotel -- you might choose a garden view.

The rooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and large. The staff were very friendly and the hotel property is very attractive.
For Stratford it's a bit pricey, and not truly a "luxury" hotel, but all in all it's a very nice hotel with excellent amenities and restaurant.
