We stayed Canada Day Long Weekend. The weather was great but the bugs were bad. Nothing kept them away. But apart from that we had a great campsite with Lake access that you could look at the sunset from. The beach was small, but the water was fresh. We also were able to rent canoes at the camp store which was a bonus. The life jackets and the canoes were in great shape. There was a nice big park by the water for the kids to keep busy, and there were lots of great activities planned from the park as well like a bike parade and a bonfire at night. There were bears, but they were around due to people not putting away their food and garbage. The bathrooms were clean and the outhouses were updated with flush toilets and soap and water. They were actually cleaner than the comfort station.
Had a great weekend and would probably be going back soon!

firstly, this place is beautiful... the forest is lush, and the park itself is fairly spaced out in between other campsites... however... if you're like me and wishing to just pull up and run the Hawk Ridge 15 km loop... think again before driving roughly 1.5 hours from Sudbury to the trailhead... there was a tree down on the trail every 100 metres....every 200 metres you'd have to avert around the entire section because it was too technical to get over... I have never been to a provincial park where the trail is so unmaintained... and i'm a rugged runner at heart... beautiful area, but this isn't a hike, it's an obstacle course... happy trails...

Great lakeside campsites, nice beaches, canoe rentals, friendly staff and reasonably stocked store, a good and enjoyable visit and one which we will definitely repeat next season.

Park has a beautiful beach. Nice campsites; may want to use Ontario Parks online reservation system to ensure you find a site that works for you. Many camp sites have a gravel base and persons who want to camp in a tent may find some sites uncomfortable. Most sites appear to be good for RVs. The Echo Pond hiking trail takes about 2 hours to complete and has a great viewing tower; trail markers can be difficult to read.

If you are looking for a quiet park with all the amenities, this is the park for you. I love this park for it's spacious lots, with lots of privacy and trees in between. You will hear a variety of birds, see a lot of wild rabbits and partridge. If you are lucky, you might spot a moose too. At night, you will see lots of stars because you are away from major cities and you might even here the mournful song of a loon and howl of a wolf.

The beach is long, clean and beautiful. The water is clear, the sand soft and you can walk a long way before the water goes deep. This makes it safer for children.

I love the Halfway Lake store where you can get ice cream, coffee, food you might run out of, toiletries, ice, clothes, etc, etc.
My family and I go there every summer, see you there!
