Gardens, a waterfall, walking trails, a cafe, a small zoo, a lake, fountains, off leash dog area, picnic spots, historic statues, cherry blossoms, amazing fall colours, tennis, a train tour and more. High Park in Toronto has it all.

High Park is basically Toronto's Central Park. It's big, and acts as a big green oasis perfect for an afternoon escape.

To minimize walking, I recommend you drive into the park and park your car near the cafe and go on foot from there. If you don't mind the walk, you can take the subway to High Park station on line 2. From there it is about a 15 minute walk into the centre of the park. Don't forget your camera.

I enjoted my walk in the high park during the late evening befire the sunset. However, I must say that the signalling fails to point out the location of the washrooms. I struggled to find the washrooms by looking at the maps or even orienting myself since the maps did not have any "You are Here" arrows. I recommend signalling for the park to be improved specially since there are some unlitted areas where people could get lost.

This is a large park with very large mature trees. It is like a forest in a city with a lake. People come here for walks and picnics. So make sure you pack some food and drinks and enjoy some nature in an urban setting. Best to visit during NON-winter months on a sunny day.

Quite difficult to reach from the downtown area. When there it is not well signed so it took us over an hour to find the zoo entrance (the side entrance was closed). The zoo was small and there was not much to see. The park itself was well maintained but I would not go back.

The park is a 365 day experience with endless attractions. It takes you from fishing to Shakespeare, peacocks to pools. You can hike, bike, walk or have a wonderful picnic. Its an oasis in the city an escape.
