The hotel is opposite a Salvation Army hostel, with a busy clientele, just on the edge of the financial district. We booked this hotel because the offer sounded attractive, as it included breakfast, and because we are members of the IGH group.
When we got into the small dark room with a noisy air conditioner, there were only plastic beakers, no glass glasses. I went and asked the receptionist for glasses, only to be told they have no glasses or proper crockery, or cutlery, as they did not have a kitchen, so didn't have a dishwasher, so were not allowed to use 'real' tableware. When I then asked about how they were going to serve breakfast, we were told, that it was all cooked off site, brought in and reheated.
So our cooked off site and reheated breakfast was indeed served on paper plates, with plastic cutlery and takeaway cups. This has got to be the worst environmentally hotel we have ever experienced.
We stayed one night and left and booked into a proper hotel.

We arrived at Pearson International, collected our travel packs, took the UP express train to Union Station, and walked to our hotel; no muss, no fuss although a few calories burned. The check in staff were very friendly and provided a great recommendation for a restaurant offering a late dinner in the neighbourhood. With a busy 3 days planned to explore the Toronto downtown attractions we enjoyed the comfort of our bed and got an early start the next morning with a substantial, and varied breakfast in the roomy, clean breakfast area at the hotel. We enjoy walking when exploring city attractions and found the Holiday Inn Express perfect for allowing us to access the ferry to the Toronto Islands, the Distillery District, the CN Tower , Ripley's Aquarium, Hockey Hall Of Fame, Rogers Centre for a Blue Jays game and the opening night activities for the Toronto International Film Festival. If we extended ourselves too much, it was an easy cab ride back to the comfort of the hotel. All of this for a very reasonable price for a quality hotel in the downtown area of a major city.

This was our second stay in the last three months. We like this hotel - the location is great and parking is easy as it has it's own pull up area to use while we unload our bags and then an underground car park to move it to afterwards.
The reception staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The air con is noisy but works well.
The one issue we have encountered on both visits is the lifts. One of the three has been out of use on both occasions and it takes forever for one of the others to arrive. We were glad we were only on the 5th floor this time as it meant we could use the stairs other than the times we were taking our luggage to and from the room. You really need to get all of the lifts functioning to be better able to service the number of guests.
Overall though we like this hotel and will book again when we're back in December.

We recently stayed at this hotel in Toronto. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We could easily walk to the St. Lawrence market which is a great place to visit. We also walked to many other attractions, but when we wanted to go a bit further we used the Uber. Never had to wait long. There is no restaurant here but they offer a nice continental breakfast. Parking is available on site. They charge $30 a day for parking, but that is less than some of the other hotels. Also, it is underground, so large trucks might not fit. The surrounding area is quiet and nice. Would recommend staying here.
