“no sleep park and fly”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2010

we booked this for one night March 28th since we had an early 6:30am flight to the US. We checked in and were told they were full and they gave us a room beside the elevator with one king bed, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The offered a roll away hard bed that my son slept on and my daughter slept on the chair with her feet over hanging the ottoman. The hotel check in offered our kids ice cream as a compensation!! I called marriott and got $20 off the price big deal. There were so many conventions going on and the noise of the elevator and people in the hall was unbearable. Needless to say I got about 2 hours sleep. Should have stayed home since we live in toronto and took a cab....not a great way to start a holiday..never again

Have stayed at this property many times before and have reviewed it each time. Since the rennovation of the rooms and common areas, the quality of the hotel has improved. It is a very comfortable property and a great place to stay prior to an early morning flight out of Toronto's Pearson Airport.

The room had one queen sized bed and a three seat couch that was placed in an odd looking location directly in front of the window. The couch looked out of place, but was functional. The separate sink area from the toilet and shower is a good idea. Bath and Body Works shower and soap were a nice touch.

The room was comfortable, although the standard hotel hall noise: loud guests and the seemingly required constant slamming of room doors was present for most of the stay. However, I did get a good night sleep with my ever present ear plugs.

Wake up call came as promised. The wake up call system is fully automated and easier to figure out than the alarm clock.

Email and Internet access is not free from the room, but it is available free of charge in the lobby.

The airport shuttle comes at regular intervals both from the hotel and the airport. It is not necessary to call or pre-arrange. The shuttle is shared with the Courtyard Marriott, which is next door and the Sheraton which is just down the street. The Marriott is the second stop on both the pick up and drop off. This makes getting to the hotel or airport about a 10 minute trip. Allow for 15 minutes to Terminal 1 as it is the second stop on the trip.

There is a restaurant on site as well as a small gift shop which has basically everything that one would need.

Free newspapers are available in the lobby. USA Today is delivered to the room each morning.

The Keg, a local steakhouse chain is a good food option. It is across the street beside (behind) the Travel Lodge hotel. A short 3 minute walk WEST on Dixon Road.

To get downtown, the Malton 58 bus on Dixon Road goes directly to the Lawrence West subway station, although this is a slow 45 minute option. It would be faster to take the hotel shuttle to the airport, then board the Airport Rocket route 192 that goes directly to the Kipling Subway station on the highway. The entire trip takes about 15 minutes and costs the same: $3. Another option is to take the GO bus, same bus stop as the Malton 58, but you have to flag the bus. Is a large coach style bus that is white with a green stripe down the side. The sign on front says "York Mills Terminal" It stops at the Yorkdale subway stop as well as the York Mills Subway stop (different lines). I'm not sure of the cost, but it would be less than $5; however the frequency is every hour. It would pass by the hotel (Dixon Road & Carlingview Drive) at about 15 minutes past each hour.

Overall a good stay. Will be back again.

Rooms are slightly bigger than Sheraton Hotels, renovated, very very clean, comfortable beds! The food is a little expensive but great Sunday brunch! But the best of all this hotel offers is the most outstanding service! All the people that I've dealt with were willing to go the extra mile to accommodate us. That was my WOW factor! Any business should contact the management of this hotel for tips on how to prepare employees for great service.
It is very close to the airport which was a positive thing for us. Although we could hear the planes depart, I think the hotel is sound proof; we were able to sleep well at night.

Stayed there for a couple of nights after successful bid for $79 per night on priceline.com for a 4 star hotel. It is old crummy hotel with mediocre facilities, poor service and extra fees and charges for every thing. No Wifi in room and cable internet is billed per minute! If you are planning to use internet find another hotel that has free wifi. I was never told at the time of booking or check-in but was surprised to find at checkout that there are $18 per day parking charges. You have to walk through open space from parking to the hotel which is not convinient in cold winter. There was one restaurant there where food was poor and overpriced. The planes fly right over the hotel and the room are not insulated enough so the external noise from planes is conciderable. The TV channel list is fairly small and many channels had no signal. The staff had poor service overall.

Were it not for the $3.99 cups of coffee in the meeting room transformed into a restaurant during renovations and the no free internet in room it would be all "A"'s.

Very clean, a choice of pillows, good tv signal, small fridge, bunch of little things that make things good rather than just ok.

This hotel is in a good location ,if you want to be close to the airport, with lots of average priced restaurants close by. The rooms and bedding are very nice. We stayed for only one night but would not stay there again. Upon arrival we were told that because we had booked on Priceline that we should expect a "downgraded room" that had 2 queen beds and not a king as booked. They promised a morning paper which was never delivered to our room. The bathroom had only 2 bath towels that were of inferior quality. Never once did any of the hotel employees give us a warm greeting or smile. The iron in our room did not work. One of the bulbs was out in one of the lamps. Parking was $16 a day with in and out priviledges. We were on the second floor and the doors all "slam" when shut so we could hear all our neighbours when they returned to their rooms. Would NEVER stay there again at any price.

Stayed for one night, large rooms, clean and comfortable. Only difficulty was in checking in, I'd booked two rooms for myself and another family, trouble was I the wrong surname of the other family member so we had trouble convincing the receptionist that the room was for them- even though I'd paid for it on the same credit card! Sense prevailed in the end but I could have done without it- hence the rating.

Parking was C$20 for 24 hours
