The St. Lawrence Market is one of the oldest markets in North America. It has a North (permanent shops and booths) as well as a South annex across the street which is opened a couple of days a week for fresh produce and Sundays as an antique fair. We have gone both days and thoroughly enjoy our experience each time. There are many foods and drinks to sample as you stroll the booths that represent not only Canadian fare but cultures from around the world. Parking can be a problem and they patrol waiting to ticket your car. I suggest driving around the block and paying $5 to park in a townhouse complex--they allow visitors. Go north on the right side of the South Market and make your next two rights, you will see the parking on the right half way down the block. We go every year for the Christmas celebration that begins the first weekend of December near the old Distillary section--walking distance from the market. We live in upstage NY and visit Toronto 3-4 times each year for the Markets (including Kensington near China Town), shop along King and Queen and to have some adult fun. We love our neighbors to the North as they are friendly, courteous and most welcoming. Toronto is like a cold Bermuda--full of beautiful places and people. At St. Lawrence, we buy bread, olives and cheese and picnic at the seating area to eat and people watch.
