This was a great relaxing way to spend our last day in Toronto. A short ferry ride gets you to the island. We spend some time relaxing at the beach, went for a swim, walked around the gardens and had fun exploring the hedge maze. There are 3 places you can catch a ferry back. We walked to one end of the island and there was a little cafe with a patio where we stopped for sangria.

We spent about 5 hours here. There are a lot of parkades where you pay about $15 for the day and are only a few blocks from the ferry terminal.

This island offers something for everyone. We rode bikes, but you can stroll or take the kids and hit the amusement park. Lovely houses and scenic location with great views back the city plenty of photo ops.

Took the very reasonable ferry across and intended to stay a couple of hours....instead we stayed 7! Lovely place for a wander and escape the hustle and bustle of Toronto.
Interesting homes, lovely gardens and great views of the Toronto skyline.
Well worth a visit.

Exploring the Toronto Islands was one of the highlights of my recent trip and it makes for a fantastic day or half-day trip from Toronto. There were beautiful walking trails through wooded and open park-like areas and on boardwalks along the lake; lots of green space for relaxing, sunbathing and picnicking; multiple white-sand beaches; and more.

I took a ferry from the Jack Layton Docks near the Harbourfront to Centre Island. If you buy your ticket online, there is a separate line at the docks which usually involves a shorter wait time. The ferry schedule can be found online, but they typically leave every 15-30 minutes and the ride takes 15 minutes. The ferries can go to any of the three islands. Centre Island is the most common one to visit first and there were bike rentals there.

There were beautiful views of the Toronto skyline from various points on the islands which provided great photo opportunities. I found really nice views from Ward’s Island and right beside the ferry docks on Centre Island.

I spent my day on the islands walking from one island to the next, eating at the adorable Island Café on Ward Island (try the huevos rancheros), checking out the beaches, visiting both Centre Island and Ward Island and admiring the views of the Toronto skyline.

There were paved trails, beaches and treed park areas on Centre Island and a beautiful boardwalk along the lakefront leading to Ward Island. It was a gorgeous walk! Ward Island was small and charming, with a popular café, nice beach, great views of the skyline and a peaceful residential area with cute and unique cottages and paved walking paths (as there are no cars or streets) through forested areas. There was a lot to see and do on the islands and I could have spent more time there. There is also a clothing optional beach at Hanlan’s Beach, for those interested.

Visiting the islands was a fantastic escape from the bustling city. It was such a peaceful place and I loved the slow-paced, relaxed vibe and the pretty nature and beaches. I would recommend a trip to the islands and can’t wait to come back again.

Visited as someone recommended it. Very disappointing. I did not enjoy the visit. The place was full of litter around the edge of the water. Did not expected that at all. I cannot recommend it, or maybe a visit to get out of the city’s hustle and bustle. Just for a walk.
