“Consistently excellent.”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

We've been here many times and never had a bad meal or a bad service experience. Don't miss Herbert's gnocchi or the wonderful mushroom risotto. Best to avoid Winterlicious and Summerlicious when it's a madhouse. The prices are fair year round, so go when it's quieter. Everything on the menu is a winner!

“WOW, need i say more!?”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

What a wonderful place!

We went there after a couple of friends recommended this amazing place.
It's a small but very romantic place located in a residential place in the middle of Toronto, basically it's a house that was converted to a restaurant.

The menu is not that big but everything on the menu is just amazing. We have 2 starters and 2 main courses. All 4 were just amazing.
The service was great, explained everything we wanted to know and gave us tips on what to order according to what we like to eat.

The deserts that we ordered were great as well.

The prices were really reasonable to the high quality of food that you get there.

Highly recommended place and we will be back there for sure!

“Nice restaurant in a residential area”
Reviewed 5 December 2011

The restaurant as the name implies is located in a converted house so it makes for a lovely setting. The waiter was quite knowledgeable about their wine list and made and excellent recommendation for a match to our meals. Win prices are quite reasonable. Started with the grilled squid. It was beautifully presented and was quite good. Great breads and chickpea dip. For the main course, we both had the scallops. Wow, what a wonderful dish. Scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly. It was combined with a risotto including homemade sausage. A great combination of flavours and highly recommended. Service was quite good but slightly marred by needing to serve too many tables per wait staff. Also the meal was slightly rushed for fine dining. Overall, still a place we plan to come back to.

“A cosy place near the Tarragon Theatre”
Reviewed 4 December 2011

The Corner House is a cosy, reliable restaurant, particularly if you have tickets for the Tarragon Theatre nearby. In fact, there is even a reasonable prix fixe of 3 courses at $35.00 if you have an early commitment. The night we ate there, all tables were booked. On the price fixe, there are about 5 choices in the appetizer and entree courses, regular and more expensively priced on the regular menu. For desert , there is a choice of three: sticky toffee, chocolate cake and lemon tarte. Two of us began with a delicious beet and greens appetizer that was nicely prepared and delicious. One enjoyed the crab cakes. The last had a potato-leek soup with bacon. Mains were a squab and the local catch which was red snapper, although salmon was also a possibility. The fish had an Asian flair to it with soft noodles, vegetables and a few shrimp. The flavours of sausage, fingering potatoes and mushrooms coalesced very nicely with the baby chicken. My warm chocolate cake was on the dry side but I still devoured its all! We felt comfortably full.
The service as excellent as our waiter knew that we had limited time and besides making helpful recommendations, we did not feel rushed. Several times, the owner? came around to check on us and enquire if everything was to our liking?
