Don't waste your time lining up for the patio at the Amsterdam. The patio at ATG is great, you don't bake in the afternoon sun (it is shaded) but offers a great view of Toronto Harbor and the islands. The food is excellent, albeit, with a reasonably limited menu, they have a selection of craft beers, unique cocktails, and interesting food.

I discovered ‘Against The Grain’ strolling east along the lake, just east of Sugar Beach...the reastaurent is just far enough away from the busiest areas.

The patio had enough shade and sunny areas to choose from and plenty of umbrellas... the wait staff are very efficient and friendly. The lunch menu was diverse as was their drinks menu. My lunch was delicious and I will certainly return soon and hang out for longer.

I imagine the evenings will be buzzing and fun. I really recommend thiis urban tavern to locals and tourists alike, especially on a beautiful day.

I noticed that there is access to all, both restaurant and washrooms are all on one level.

Good place to go on a hot night but don't expect the food to match the view and location. It was a busy night and the staff were working hard. We managed to get good service once we got the attention of the waiter. Two of us thought the food was pricey for what we had. Music much too loud inside the restaurant and the sound carried outside, often interfering with our ability to hear each other talk. I wouldn't return, even for the location.
