“Great food and service”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

I took my boyfriend to this restaurant for his birthday. I had read the reviews on tripadvisor and felt it would be a good choice.
The reviews did not lie. The food was great! We ordered the flaming cheese as our appetizer, really tasty. Only complaint was that we did not get our basket of bread and other tables had...not sure if our server forgot. We had to ask for it so we could enjoy it with our cheese.
We were both happy with our food and wine that the server recommended. The servings were not overly huge, which we were okay with because we hate to leave a restaurant feeling overly full.
While we were having dessert, one of the servers started singing oprah. This was a nice surprise at the end of the evening.
I agree, a bit pricey, but a nice night out for good food and a special occasion.

“Flaming Saganaki”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

I had a bunch of friends visiting Toronto and we decided to go to The Keg on York street, which is very close to Volos. As we passed by Volos a large flash of fire caught our eye through the window. The next night we had to try Volos and see what all the flames were about. The flaming dish was the Kefalotyri Saganaki (pan seared cheese). It was so delicious we ordered it twice. The rest of the meal was good but a little expensive for the quantity and quality. Overall we had a great experience.

“Greek delight!”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

Great Greek restaurant in Toronto. Very nice and cool atmosphere, very good service, and excellent food. The plates are very well prepared and presented. The lamb in the phyllo paste is special.

“Amazing transformation”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

I reserved a spot at Volos on the basis of reviews in Trip Advisor. I had no idea that this was the same spot where years ago I had had a very mediocre meal and very poor service. What a transformation! This upscale, 'nouveau Greek' restaurant is way up there on the list of places at which you will want to eat in Toronto. (The bellman at our hotel asked how we had even gotten reservations to Volos, since he had often tried and failed.) Our server paired our excellent meals -- best exhoico I have ever had, bar none! -- with outstanding Greek (and even Italian) wines, right down to the perfect dessert wine. We were completely unrushed, in spite of the busy-ness. (It probably paid off that we went a bit later in the evening.) Will we be back? We can't wait! It would be hard to find anything like Volos this side of the Pillars of Hercules! (Only complaint: chef's staff needs to make sure that food is served on hot plates. The mussels had cooled a bit by the time they got to our table.)
