I have not been downtown as much as I would like; however, as with any large metropolis, safety is in numbers. Disclaimer aside, Toronto honestly does have one of the most vibrant and multi - (cultural, historic, lingual) populations the world over. AND eveyone is friendly, to a point. Watch out for our two seasons - Winter and Construction!

Another great area. So much to see, especially during TIFF - Toronto International Film Festival. The place really comes alive then. Lots of great restaurants in the area.

In both good ways, and uneasy ways... but usually a good time on the weekends, you wouldn't know it was an Entertainment District during the weekdays, outside the area being home to many Entertainment Industry companies high in the office areas. Nice place to walk through during club nights, good night life, kind of dead during the day...

This neighbourhood used to be where all the hip clubs were. At first they were all places you had to hear about from someone in the know. Then, a number of huge clubs attempting to maintain the illusion of exclusivity while hundreds of suburban kids tried to get in. On weekends the crowds on the street at closing time were insane. But nowadays not even the suburban kids flock here, and the really hip places are twice removed. But the area does have decent bars & restaurants because there are a number of theatres here, though it is not even remotely like Broadway or the West End.
