Owner description: The Princess of Wales Theatre is a 2000-seat playhouse built by the father and son producing team of David and Ed Mirvish, just a block away from their historic Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Princess of Wales is the first privately owned and financed theatre built in Canada since 1907 - and the first anywhere in North America in over 30 years. Construction began on August 6, 1991, and the building opened to the public with the musical Miss Saigon on May 26, 1993.The theatre was built with maximum flexibility in mind. Its stage is one of the widest and deepest in North America - large enough to accommodate the most spectacular theatrical productions - and its technical facilities are state-of-the-art.

I have loved the experience any time I've attended this wonderful theatre. Phantom was the best production ever!

Just saw War Horse preview. Up in the top balcony Row K21.
Great view, lots of leg room, close to washrooms. There is an elevator if you don't want to climb several flights of stairs. Lots of restaurants nearby. King St. streetcar to the door!

Petite compared to broadway as we are well attended in terms if shows and entertainment. Went to see War Horse. Seats were comfortable. better than theToronto Centre for Performing Arts.

Production and stage was phenomenal.

Restrooms were s bit out of the way, in fact quite confusing but that did not impact the experience.

The ushers were all professional and their direction was appreciated. The elder Dame/Usher was somewhat proud if her...shall we say "environment" or perhaps is a bit too tenacious of keeping show goers "in-line". We were amused but some around us were not.

This us a theatre that is...Comfortable, Classy and Modern - not like the usual historic/nostalgic ones.

Hats off to a great performance and show.

One of Toronto's newest theatres, this is a great place to see live theatre. Although this is a large space (2000 seats), it manages to feel quite intimate. Even the seats in the balcony have good sight lines and don't feel too distant. However, for a show like War Horse (showing Feb - Apr 2012) that features several entrances/exits through the orchestra seats, you do miss some of the action from up in the balcony.
If you're sitting in the balcony, where your "climbing shoes". You have to climb a LOT of stairs to get to the top. Then you'll need to be patient when leaving ... everyone from the seats below clog the 2 stairwells.
I find the seat backs to be rather still and slightly uncomfortable but I love the overall experience.
