Easily missed (from both a time and location perspective), the museum should be added to any agenda that includes art. Tiny but remarkably curated, it felt much bigger than it was, and each of the two exhibits was fascinating and fulfilling. The gift shop lives up to the hype--we wanted to buy everything!

I recommend you buy the $20.00 pass that allows you to visit the Textile Museum of Canada, the Bata Shoe Museum and the Gardiner Ceramics Museum (each with $15.00 admission on their own)...so a great saving. The Textile Museum currently has a fascinating exhibition of Frida Kahlo's clothing, and photos of her in Mexican costume taken by her photographer lover at the time....you also get to read their love letters to each other! The other exhibit of painters using textiles as their canvas is also very interesting. Clean bathrooms, lovely exhibit spaces, and after, you can grab a snack just up the street on the corner from a great Lebanese take out place called Ali Baba's.

The current special exhibit of textiles from Picasso to Warhol makes a visit to this museum especially worthwhile at this time.

Growing up in the 50's and 60's and sewing my own clothes it was fun to see where some of the knock-off designs I sewed with came from. It's small with a fantastic gift shop, although you do have to hunt and peck to find things. They are there, however.
