Description: Southern Accent has been serving the most authentic and exciting Cajun and Creole food in Toronto for 34 years. Recently relocated to the exciting College and Ossington neighbourhood, join us at the bar for a Cajun Cocktail or a bourbon from our collection accompanied by the best Calamari in the city. The restaurant is a tribute to the old victorian house in the Mirvish Village location, laced with all the old quirky artwork and charms. In a hurry? No need to worry. Grab 'n' go and high end take out are available from the express area at the entrance to the restaurant!

“Mediocre meals and service!”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

We visited Southern accent twice - the first time we tried the blackened chicken livers which were decent , the mains consisting of the bourbon street chicken and voodoo pasta were just average. The second time around we tried the jambalaya and beef brisket , both of which were uninspiring and banal. The bread pudding too, did not meet our expectations.
The service here is subpar .The ambiance is in keeping with the Mardi Gras, New Orleans theme .

“Okay, but not what it used to be”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

I loved going to Southern Accent - they had my two favourite dishes - Blackened Chicken Livers and Roasted Garlic. The Chicken Livers on toast with the butter tasted like fire and butter together. The Garlic was sweet and nutty. Oh and the pecan pie was excellent.

It's been a year since I was last there and they had a special Winterlicious menu. The calamari tasted like it had come right out of a plastic bag and into the fryer. The blackened chicken was dry and tasteless (go figure). The blackened chicken liver was a small half liver on a piece of cardboard. The lamb chop was tasty though.

The Pecan Pie was still what it should be. I don't know if it was Winterlicious or if they have a new chef. However, I will not be in any hurry to go back.

“Winterlicious cajun”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

Whatever you do, order the pecan pie! We enjoyed our first winterlicious meal immensely, particularly the veggie french market and the pie. We also took home a bottle of "hot as hell" hot sauce.

“Fantastic atmosphere and heart warming food”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

This is the second time we visit this restaurant, found it by chance the first time. It truly is a delight, the staff is very welcoming and the food is simply delicious, not to mention the very generous and tasty cocktails and drinks they make. The atmosphere is a mixture of southern soul and Mardi Gras, and could be cheesy but works perfectly in this context. We absolutely love the restaurant, they also have a very reasonable prix fixe. Also to note is that southern food is often associated with spicy food, which unfortunately makes some people stay away, but that is not the case with every meal. I myself cannot take very much spices and have yet enjoyed several meals there. I highly recommend it to everyone!

“Delicious and different”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

Our server recommended the lamb and I was so happy to take her suggestion. Best ever! My husband had catfish which he enjoyed as well. Try the spicy shrimp app with the hush puppies. A great experience at a table under a curtain! Pecan pie was to die for as well!
