“Historial Cannon Battery”

Prince Edward Battery
Attraction details
Reviewed October 23, 2016

Currently located on a hill overlooking the sea in an apple orchard within Victoria Park this cannon battery once defended the harbour of Charlottetown. A number of posted signs provide a unique history of the local defenders of P.E.I and the involvement of the battery and its service men through our country's history.

Was a great walk along the boardwalk and up to see this. Was very interesting to see what they would have seen in the days of that era

This is a pleasant area to walk and enjoy the harbor area. The old gun battery is interesting in that such a small gun battery could protect the island.

If you're walking along the boardwalk, you can't miss a visit at the battery. It's part of Victoria park's boardwalk area. It's near the ice cream stand, and bathrooms.
It gives you a bit of a higher view point of the harbour. In the summer there is a large white square frame nearby for picture taking. Nothing is off bounds, you can touch or stand on anything. It's great place for picture taking. There's a wooden stand to give you a higher vantage point complete with educational information plaques. There's also a nice grassy place to sit and enjoy the scenery - although foot traffic is quite heavy, so it's often better to look around, take some pics and then move on to let other people have their moment to take pics and enjoy.
