When selecting an accommodation in Charlottetown for the end of our 3-week Atlantic Provinces trip I was surprised at the high prices of all the options. We finally selected Mermaid Suites for its location right in the center town, although we were a bit worried about being told that we would have to park either on the street or in a nearby parking garage. Well, we are very glad we chose this place and parking turned out not to be a problem at all, especially since Hamid graciously moved his own vehicle upon our arrival so we could be right out front to unload. He even carried both our large suitcases for us up the stairs—at the same time! The parking meters out front run from 9 am to 4 pm so if you are out and about during those hours, it’s not a problem at all.

We had the Superior Suite #201 and it was huge with a separate kitchen/dining area, living room with sofa bed, desk, and chairs, and a separate bedroom with queen bed. There were two good size closets as well as great floor space—just what we needed to empty our suitcases to reorganize everything for the flight home. There were two separate air conditioning units—one in the living room and one in the bedroom—which was good thing as PEI was having an unusual heat wave in late September.

There were a few negatives in that the hallway outside the unit had a terrible smoke smell and the bedding for the sofa bed needs some serious upgrading/cleaning. Otherwise we were very pleased with our accommodation.

Right downstairs is Brits Fish and Chips and OMG they have the best, the very best battered halibut I’ve ever had. I ate their both days we stayed. And if you are not full enough after those huge pieces of fish there is a Cow’s Ice Cream just around the corner. Even if you are not a fish fan there are several other eateries around. And you are only a half-block from the Confederation Centre and Province Historic Site as well as a short walk to the waterfront.

Room tip: Suite 201 is the largest but will have a bit of street noise.

It's ok nothing special
Clean enough, quiet enough, some stairs no elevator but we didn't care, close enough for walking downtown
Would I recommend to my friends - prob not but most tend to like a fancier place
Just nothing special, kinda boring but fine for one nights sleep

I stayed here for one night to attend a show in downtown Charlottetown. The suites are operated through Brit's Fish and Chips where payment and keys were collected. The staff was polite and friendly to deal with, and the room includes 15% off in the restaurant.

The room was clean, spacious, and the bed was comfortable. It is in a perfect location for downtown Charlottetown, close to all the good bars, restaurants, venues, etc... Some hotels in Charlottetown get way over priced, but this was certainly a bargain given the quality and location!

This little inn is only one block from of the Confederation Centre, and provided remarkable value. It is upstairs from Brit's Fish and Chips, but there was no noise and no smell from the restaurant. On street parking at the door.
The suite had two rooms, a bedroom and a sitting room. It was set up for four people (two on a fold out couch), with a refrigerator and microwave oven. Two TVs, high speed Internet, very clean throughout, especially the bath.

Room tip: Walk up; a room on the back would avoid street noise.

This is a downtown Charlottetown 1 bdrm apartment with a full kitchen, living room, tv in living room and bedroom. Heat and air conditioning units as well. Brits fish and chips restaurant directly below the apts. Deep fried Mars bar is a must have! Thanks!
