Owner description: This is not Barbie as you once knew her! The Barbie Expo, conveniently located in the heart of downtown, in Les Cours Mont Royal, Montreal’s most prestigious upscale shopping mall, is a brilliant and exciting way to showcase the haute couture fashion available at the exclusive flagship boutiques within the mall. The stunning display houses over 1000 dolls, and is the largest permanent Barbie doll Expo in the world! A truly incredible selection of world-renowned designers have magnificently fashioned breathtaking outfits for every possible occasion—all of them modeled by the 11.5 inch fashion icon herself. Admission is free. Designers on display include Christian Dior, Donna Karan, Armani, Ralph Laurent, Vera Wang, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Louboutin, Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Bob Mackie, and many other authentic fashion all-stars!

What a fun free thing to do in Montreal. The Expo is in a small mall on the third floor. There are hundreds of Barbie and Barbie inspired dolls from actors and actresses as well as music, movies, and theater. Additionally there are themed dolls as well like horror and fantasy. Plus there are Barbie that are strictly designed by fashion designers in clothing and accessories. There are two life size Barbie boxes as well so that if you want a picture of your friends and family they can get in and pretend to be a doll. My favorite was the automated fashion show as well as 007 at the Casino Royal. I have three girls under 10 so we had a blast looking at all the dolls and playing in the boxes. The atmosphere with the pool of water, orchids, and crystal chandeliers added a classy touch to it all. Spend a few minutes and I am sure you will spend more time here than you planned to. FYI there is a Starbucks on the first floor and only one men’s and ladies room in the whole mall across from Starbucks down a hallway.

My wife and I ran into this while simply walking around thr mall. It was a really fun surprise to us. The number of dolls are really impressive and staged well. My wife enjoyed it much more then I did. I wouldn't call this a must see, but if you are looking for something to do for an hour or two, it is certainly worth the time and a donation (free admission, they are just looking for make-a-wish donations).

If you used to play a lot with Barbies when you were younger, you need to go check out this expo. It brought me back good memories ! My favorites were the Bob Mackie collection.

We tripped over this when heading out for lunch. Tucked into an underground mall, this is actually a fascinating look at a world I knew nothing about. There were hundreds of these dolls in period costumes, costumes designed by people like Bob Mackie and dressed as movie characters. The displays are nicely done and it's fun to try and see what characters or stars you recognize. (The Daniel Craig James Bond stands out.) The display is free.
