Owner description: The MMFA is one of Canada’s most visited museums and the eighth-most visited museum in North America, boasting more than 1.3 million visitors. The MMFA's original temporary exhibitions combine various artistic disciplines – fine arts, music, film, fashion and design – and are exported around the world. Its rich encyclopedic collection, distributed among five pavilions, includes international art, world cultures, decorative arts and design, and Quebec and Canadian art. The Museum has seen exceptional growth in recent years with the addition of two new pavilions: the Claire and Marc Bourgie Pavilion, in 2011, and the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion for Peace, in 2016. The MMFA complex includes Bourgie Hall, a 460-seat concert hall. The Museum also houses the Michel de la Chenelière International Atelier for Education and Art Therapy, the largest educational complex in a North American art museum, enabling the MMFA to offer innovative educational, wellness and art therapy programmes

This was a great museum. It had a number of classics (Monet, Picasso, Renoir) as well as some more modern art. I loved the modern art. They also had a lot of areas for children's art. You would need to check the schedule, but I went in the room where they hold the children's classes, and their art work was posted on all of the walls, and it was wonderful. (Better than some of my college students)! I noticed a lot of families with young children. We went on Sunday and it was free. So that's even better!

Exhibition on the West and the Western art etc; was on and we went. Free for us as members and we spent just under two hours at the show. Well laid out, easy to see and read the text and the various pictures, sculptures and other items. Overall good with a touch of “pc” lecturing on how awfully the native folk were treated which just seemed unnecessary.

This museum is a complex of buildings with underground passageways so you can easily reach any exhibit. We didn't have time to see it all so enjoyed the art in two of the buildings...one on Inuit and Canadian Art and the other on Decorative Arts and Design. Both were very enjoyable as were the numerous outdoor sculptures along Sherbrooke near the museum. If you want to see everything you probably need to spend 4 hours or so.

This place is amazing! The art seems to never end! Actually... does it end? It seems to me that you have to plan a whole day here... maybe more! The exhibits are great and worth it for sure but I feel it is almost too big for the price to time ratio. What I mean is perhaps they should have a pass that works for a couple days so you can spend some time elsewhere and return here the following day.
If you come here prepare to be amazed by fantastic displays of art but also plan on a lot of time!

Not the largest museum you'll see, but it certainly has a nice collection with a few interesting exhibits. Once was probably enough for me. When I visited, several of the permanent exhibits were not open. A disappointment, to be sure, and my review might be different if I'd been able to see everything.
