A lot of history to see and experience in old town. Lots of shops, food, and amazing architecture that dates back to the 1600s.

If you visit Montreal and want to understand how it began, you must wander around this area. It's quaint and charming

The area is good and bad. Some are nice stores, cheap souvenir shops, then others are empty and dirty. The street is not closed so there is a lot of traffic. Part of the street is totally torn up leaving very little area to walk.

I found it difficult to navigate round the old city and find points of interest. I was very aware of high numbers of homeless sleeping rough around the place. There does seem to be a lot of building going on and things being knocked down

We visited Old Montréal last year and enjoyed it so much that we decided to stay right in the heart of this incredible area. Our hotel was only 2 blocks from the Notre-Dame Basilica. World class restaurants are a short walk away. Shopping along Rue Saint Paul, beautiful architecture, entertainment for the entire family, and three Metro stations are all within easy walking distance. From here you can easily access most of Montréal.
