“Stunning building on the hill”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

But the inside, though massive and striking was cold, contemporary, concrete with screens that reminded me more of a close up view of barbed wire than anything religiously positive. Take a look at it from a distance and then drive on by. Not worth a stop in my opinion.

“Don't miss this, we almost did!”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

It was our last day, we had a 6 hour ride home, we visited Mont Royal and were preparing for the return drive, but decided at the last minute to stop by the Oratory. It is MASSIVE! I found it to be the most impressive of the religious sites we visited in Montreal. Be prepared for a climb, I counted 104 steps to the entry level from the ground (there are shuttles available). Then there are more steps to the observation deck, we opted for the escalator. Some of the interior has been preserved and other parts have been modernized, but it is such a large structure, that in order to be utilized, it would have to be updated. There was a commencement ceremony taking place while we were there, which I thought was really neat.

“A must visit, incredible view!”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Just a church? Not religious? Neither am I, but this is quite a meaningful landmark for Montrealers. I had my high school grad ceremony there, the view is incredible. A great place to relax and enjoy the moment. Check out the back neighborhood, quite nice.
