Pleasant and Comfortable Hotel

Review of Ruby Foo's
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
Visiting area. Stayed 4 nights. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. We had a king room. The mattress and pillows provided a great night's sleep, pleasantly surprised. The bathroom and water pressure was very good. The fan was extremely loud and did not do it's job, but that wasn't an issue. Doesn't work, don't turn on. There was no carpet in room. I had mixed feelings on that. The housekeeping staff was outstanding. Our room was freshened quickly and smelled nice. The front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The only two things that I found bad, was the breakfast they offered for $25 per person. The 4 of us arrived at 9am. 1 guy seating, taking orders (made to order eggs, potatoes, and cepes), and serving and cooking. 2 of us ate bacon and sausage before eggs came out. The other 2 waited. By then there was no bacon and no sausage. The person went and looked but never brought any more out. At least 7 people came in after us, so they did not get any. While eggs, potatoes and crepes were fresh and hot, it was no worth the price when you are not offered everything. There are a few breakfast places across the street, I would suggest. Also, their restaurant is under renovations and where they have the breakfast set up is in a very destroyed looking room. Like an after thought. The other annoyance Was there was a convention being held on saturday, with many people. The hotel offered very nice areas for such a thing. However, they're set up had tables in the hallways, which made it very hard for guests to move through the hallway and to the elevator to the rooms. Plus sadly, the people at this particular convention totally trashed the hallways Which was not very appealing to have to walk through. Also, with having a convention, it left parking to be desired and hotel guests wondering where to park. 1 block away from Metro station (orange line) very convenient. Many restaurants, shopping stores nearby and within walking distance. Traffic is very congested in front of hotel but easy to cross streets with multiple red lights. The outdoor pool looked very nice and inviting. I would definitely stay again.

Prior to our reservation friends of ours advised us to be sure to request a room that has been recently renovated. The hotel has been or is in the process of a significant renovation to their rooms. The lobby and front desk is very new. The hallways are very clean and well-maintained. The well-equipped fitness centre is on the lower floor and is very clean.

Our room with a king size bed was really spacious and very clean. Bathroom was clean and supplied with all of the liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in refillable pump dispensers. No need to throw out unused plastic bottles. I wish the choice of TV channels was better than your Basic choice of channels. Very limited in English speaking channels.

Our housekeeper for our stay in Room 230 was excellent.

There is very limited restaurant service at the hotel. We ate off-site.

My only significant pet-peeve is that the grounds (grass-cutting, weeds) were not maintained. The property on the side street is unkempt. Not good!

Room tip: The hotel is very close to a lot of restaurants, gas stations etc.

This hotel served us well in the past. Covid has definitely changed things as the pool is out of service and the restaurant (formerly a wonderful establishment) is completely shut down. The rooms are ok, definitely stay in the 4 story building. We were in a room
overlooking the pool. It was mostly quiet. Water pressure is good, beds were ok, not fabulous but ok. It's a nice place to work from, but don't expect any extras. No snacks or drinks were available - no vending machines, at least that I could find. Free on site parking is a huge plus. Decarie Blvd is very busy but due to pretty good insulation, the road noise from it was minimal. Many restaurants and coffee shops in the area. We brought food from the shops on Rue Cote Des Neiges and took it back to our room. Will stay again due to the free parking.

Room tip: Get a room in the four story building above the check in desk. Facing the pool is the way to go.

Huge room, king sized bed, huge bathroom. Decoration is corporate rather than personal, professional not quirky. Nothing is bad, but nothing stands out either.

Coffeemaker is , umm, challenging to use. Two of us tried, couldn’t work out how to fit the tiny pod into the dispenser. We finally called the front desk clerk, who couldn’t explain. He sent housekeeping to demonstrate. Is something a little wrong here?

Hi Susan, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you appreciated the size of the room, the king-sized bed, and the spacious bathroom.

We aim to provide a professional and comfortable environment, though we understand that the decor might feel a bit corporate. Your comments help us identify areas where we can add more character to our spaces.

We apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the coffeemaker. It's clear that the design could be more user-friendly, and we regret any inconvenience this caused. We'll certainly review this issue to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope to welcome you back and provide an even better experience.

The Ruby Foo's has been there for a long time but has really been kept up well, and regularly renovated. The rooms are clean and quiet, the beds are comfortable, the service is efficient and attentionate, with just the right level of interaction from the staff.

Straight off the bat, the location is unattractive to say the least. The entrance is on the service road of Autoroute Décarie, a showcase example of an urban scar from the 1960s. But when looking at the details, things brightened up. First, it's a short walk away from a metro station that will painlessly and quickly wisk you anywhere around town. Second, it offers free parking and is an easy 10-minute drive to the airport (beware of traffic jams), so if you have a rental car, you should definitely consider this one as a airport hotel. And, last but not least, the surrounding areas are beginning to regenerate a bit, with interesting shopping and dining options (another review is coming soon, on that last point).

We were looking to book a room for our last night before catching an early flight out of YUL. Airport hotels in Montréal tend to be excruciatingly expensive, even more so than in most major metropolis around the planet, and that got me into creative mode. I had a vague childhood memory of the Ruby Foo's, from times predating the internet (yup, really), and I thought, Why not? Well, I fully intend to return as a regular.

The front desk couldn't find  my booking and I and my wife have to wait 30 minutes  just to get my prebooked room.

But the worst is the staff of the Eggspectation restaurant    they were very rude and had no manners to treat a guest. She asked right at the door are you  passing through and that instantly  cancelled my food from that  place plans. I have visited many hotels but this staff was the  absolute  NEVER EVER.

She was the worst  and a person who will drive business away for sure
