A small hotel set in 3 houses ,15-20 walk from downtown Montreal's shops and restaurants. Stepped access to reception which was clean and tidy. Receptionist on arrival was very abrupt but other staff spoken to were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is pet friendly also. Our room on first floor overlooked a main road which was busy at times. The room was small and a bit dated, large bed and furniture gave it a slightly cramped feel.
Breakfast was included and was a continental buffet.
Free wi fi
Car parking was $28 CAD per night by valet service.

Hotel is fine, the main floor is gorgeous but the rooms are a little tired and the creaking floors when people walk past your room at night can wake you if you're a light sleeper. Free breakfast is a nice touch. On the morning of checkout I was disturbed 3 times by the cleaners beginning at 10am even though check out is not until 12pm, and I was asked when I expected to leave. They were not rude, but there should be a better process of knowing if someone has yet to check out and to leave them be if not.

I staid here during a 3 night business trip. The staff was nice, the hotel was reasonably comfortable, but I regretted not staying in a corporate hotel.

The room was pretty big and the bed was not bad. The bathroom was clean and functional. At the same time, the room was definitely not exceptional in terms of decor or the quality of the bed and furnishings.

Other reviews here have complained that there is no elevator. That is still the case. If you have a heavy suitcase, climbing up 2-3 flights of stairs can be a bit of a hassle and they don't really help you with your luggage unless you are a senior citizen.

They also do not allow residents to control the heat. When I was there in late September it was a little chilly but they did not have the heat turned on. They had space heaters but those dry up the air and should not really be used at night. As a result, the room was a little cold for most of my stay.

The breakfast was OK. Instant oatmeal, bagels, and pastries. Nothing exceptional but it was decent and free. The fitness center is small and definitely not on par with most good hotels.

In short, this is an adequate but slightly inconvenient and, in some ways, slightly uncomfortable place. I think it's a bit cheaper than the Sofitel and other hotels in the area. But if I had it to do over again I would have spent the money and staid in the better hotel with more modern facilities.

The price was good, but either we are more fussy or things have changed for the worse in 10-15 years. The questionable image starts as you walk up the outside, thread-bare red carpet. The greeting and check-in are a bit perfunctory and there is no elevator and, so it appears, no-one to help with luggage. The quiet rooms and bathroom are a fine size with lots off hot water and good amenities. Though we mentioned it to Reception, the featured fireplace never worked for the 2 days the were here. The breakfast room itself was nice, but got very crowded and the food was about what you get at a Best Western motel. The location is superb for walking to Sherbrooke St. art galleries and the Musee des beaux arts and is fun walking down Guy or Crescent Streets and on to the old town.

Lisa was great, walked past huge queues. Great history and memorably told. Saw the fountains working, brilliant sight. Sorry we could only visit for the morning. Highly recommended. Photo of garden attached
