“Great staff, smelly hotel”

I wonder how long Queen Elizabeth's reign would have been if she knew what they do in her name. This hotel has a lot of history, you can stay in the suite where John Lennon recorded Ive Peace a Chance, but the history shows in the aged, small rooms and smelly corridors. The staff though is friendly. Be prepared to pay $30 for croissants and coffee, or go to the train station next door and get your Tim Horton's fix.

We stayed at this hotel last weekend. The location is ideal and the front desk staff specially the concierge was very helpful. However their recommendation of Julien Resto was sub par. Please read the review of Julien on Trip Advisor. The concierge was very helpful in letting us know that there was free parking on the street. We saved $35 of valet parking

We spent 2 nights at the hotel and enjoyed the hotel. The rooms are rather small but they are nicely furnished and comfortable. The location is great and within walking distance to all the best shopping and restaurants. It is also within walking distance of Old Montreal. We took the Viarail train to Quebec City and we stayed here mainly because the train station is located in the hotel. Nothing could have been more convenient. The hotel is a bit expensive for the size of the rooms but we paid a premium for convenience and location.

this hotel is old. bathrooms are very small. not a good value for the money. I would not stay here again.

I have stayed 2 nights in June in this hotel.
When you approach it, you think, uh, looks a bit gray and dull and you get doubts if you booked the right hotel. Then you enter the grandiose lobby and you think, yes, I've booked the right hotel.
When you leave the elevator and get into one of the large corridors, you doubt again if you've booked the right hotel. And when you enter your room, then you immediately know, you've booked the wrong hotel.
The room was small and shabby, the equipment must have been found on the flea market, a huge tube tv, a portable phone of predigital times and of which the antenna was literally chewed up and an a.c. which you had to cut completely to be able to sleep.
The bath room was tiny and the size of the bath tub was just for small children or dwarfs.
Since I am a member of their Presidents Club and got such a room, I assume they must all be like that.
On the positive side, staff was extremely friendly and the location is right. The old town as well as the Crescent are in walking distance and the express bus to the airport stops just on the other street side.

Junior suite was small, but worked fine for us and our two year old for her naps. Two bathrooms in the suite was unusual for such a small suite, but a nice plus. Location is exactly where you want to be. Worth it just for the location. Thin walls. Refrigerator is not usable. Just a mini-bar.

We stayed at the Fairmont in Montreal during the weekend of the F1 Grand Prix. Despite the hotel being fully booked, the service from the hotel staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Impeccably clean rooms. The underground train station and subway was accessible from the hotel - making it very convenient considering us taking a train to NYC. Would certainly consider the Fairmont brand when we travel again.
