My husband and I travelled to Montreal this past weekend for an overnight stay- a change of scenery and to spend some quality time together. I found Le Place D'Armes hotel after looking on TA for something special, a hotel that wasnt a cookie cutter from a chain The reviews were excellent and just were just what we were looking for. We requested an early check in by email and received a response within 24 hours that they would try their best to accomodate our request. Upon arriving at the hotel, almost 2 hours before check in, we were greeted by Nicholas and we were happy to see our request was met. He also let us know that for a small fee, we could upgrade to either a king room for $20.00/day or to a junior suite with a king bed, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and balcony for $35.00/day. I asked to see the rooms and Nicholas was extremely pleasant, giving us a tour of the hotel, explaining the history and the different additions to the hotel. We loved the jr suite he showed us and didnt think twice about upgrading. The room was twice the size of the standard room we had booked, with a brick wall running through the bedroom to the ensuite. A huge kingsize bed, a lovely sitting area, with wall unit that had a flatscreen tv over the electric fireplace, and floor to celing windows that lead to a balcony made up the room. The bathroom was beautiful. It was spacious, with a large walkin in rainshower, a stand alone jacuzzi tub for 2, with a tv and sink and vanity. Bathrobes included. We fell in love with the room immedidately! We received a card for 2 free drinks in the lounge Suite 701 which we used after a day of shopping (value $22.00), which in our minds made up for the $25.00 cost for valet parking. We had a great night at the hotel and just loved the atmosphere, the surroundings and the helpful and friendly staff. When we got up the next morning, we were dismayed to find that we had no hot water for a shower before leaving for breakfast. We called down and were told it may take up to an hour for the problem to be fixed, so we requested a complimentary room service breakfast be sent up and the gentleman at the front desk didnt hesitate for a second and told us to give our order to room service and it would be on the hotel. Breakfast arrived and it was fantastic! The water still wasnt fixed before we left, but the manner in which the problem was dealt with, did not change our opinion of the service and experience we had! We plan to go back in the summer when the weather is nicer to visit the rooftop terrace and the Rainspa and make it a tradition when we need a little getaway! Thank you Hotel Place D'Armes!

We spent 3 nights in an Executive suite which was quite large with a living room, bedroom both with TVs), a large bathroom and a powder room. There was a DVD player, a large bathtub & an electric fireplace. The water was hot and there was good water pressure except if you used the rainshower- it was too big for the amount of water pressure so the water was only a trickle. The fireplace did little except make a lot of noise & turn on by itself in the night. The room was on the floor with the spa so you walked by treatment rooms on the way to the room. Otherwise, a nice room. The staff were friendly.

The location in old Montreal was great. There are 2 Starbucks nearby, places for breakfast (a bit fewer on weekends) and nice restaurants all within walking distance. The metro is 1 block away so it is easy to get to other places in town. We like the area and come here about every 18 mo & will gladly stay here again.

Hotel rooms were fantastic - high ceilings, beautiful sitting area and the bathrooms are stunning. Really enjoyed the bath room product - very high quality. The restaurant (Suite 701) in the hotel was very good - had a 3 course table d'hote January special that was delicious. Would only recommend adding coffee service in the mornings in the lobby.

This hotel is in the perfect location -- close to nice restaurants, accessible by public transportation and within walking distance to the picturesque old port (waterfront). The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is a trendy restaurant/lounge in the hotel that turns into a bar/club in the evening. The rooms were very clean and the decor made you feel like you could be somewhere in Europe. Our room also faced the beautiful and historic Notre Dame church which was a bonus. Place d'Armes has become my new favourite hotel in Montreal.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room facing the church for a great view (note: you will hear the church bells, if t...

My husband and I stayed for the first time at this hotel two weeks ago. We have stayed at many great places in Montreal, but this one has quickly risen right to the top! Fantastic location in Old Montreal, very walkable to nearly everything or via Metro access. Beautiful facility, classy, modern rooms with great amenities. Service was ultra-gracious and we had a fantastic time. Since it was sub-zero during our visit we spent a lot of time indoors and greatly enjoyed both the lounge and restaurant as well. The only minor detraction is that on-site costs are fairly high, but high quality. This was probably more noticeable to us because we did not want to venture far for snacks/food/drinks, etc. Beautiful facility- you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Suites are fantastic!

I have been to Montreal many times, this was my first time staying at Le Place d'Armes. First I am a high end hotel person, who is very picky, and our clients also have the same taste. Let me say, this hotel was five star all the way. The concierge staff was always around, extremely helpful and got us to where we wanted to go. A reservation at Garde Manager was the icing on the cake! Everyone from reception, to room and turndown service was exceptional. The hotel bar/lounge 701 is quite a hopping scene, great people watching, and the Manager was extremely friendly and gracious to the guests. The pool table in the lobby was also a nice place to kick back on a snowy afternoon, watch some hockey and play some pool. Also, to note, the RainSpa. It was fabulous. Anyone who says otherwise, and reading some of the reviews, is totally befuddling. The space was great and Diana was terrific. I have stayed at 10 or more different hotels in town, and this has been bar far the best. Great location in the Old City and absolutely terrific and friendly staff. I will be coming back, and will be recommending my clients go as well! Thanks from the NY'ers!

Room Tip: The junior suites are amazing/

This hotel is amazing...right in the heart of Old Montreal, it features incredible decor, architecture, amenities and service. The junior suite was beautiful with a grand bathroom that featured a claw foot tub and rain shower. The spa in the hotel is also fantastic. The entire experience was wonderful and even though we live close by Montreal, I felt like we were in a beautiful hotel in Europe - even if only for a weekend. Well worth it! I travel alot on business and this hotel is one of the best.
