Was a little hesitant based on a couple reviews, especially since we were staying two nights. A couple minor confrontations between people checking out and the desk clerk, while I was checking in added to my nervousnous, but the confrontations were misunderstandings on the part of the guests, relatively minor, and handled professionally and courteously by the multi-lingual staff.
Room was much bigger than expected, had a little balcony off a quiet alley, and had a small but full kitchen. Location was just outside Vieux Montreal, and very convenient without the craziness.
Breakfast was simple; more European than American, but that's not a criticism, just an observation.
Parking in the area is always tricky- there is an outdoor private lot adjacent, and the hotel's parking garage is attached to a neighboring hotel, with kind of a tricky keycard system, single-lane bi-directional traffic, and small spaces- don't even bother if you have a honking SUV or pickup truck. Street parking, as in all bigger, older cities, is risky. There is an unloading zone, which should be used but is often full, that makes life much more convenient when available.
Just shy of an Excellent rating, and I will almost certainly stay here next time I am in Montreal.More
