As a local, I have to say that Crescent Street is now over-rated. For a long time it was "the" place to go (for English drinkers), and the reputation was well deserved. Now, it is an area of average quality pubs (both drink and food average), with over-priced beer and other drinks. Yes, the pricing is "market" in that most in the area have the same charges. However, that doesn't make it good or fair value.

If visiting the city, and finding oneself in the area, by all means have a drink or two at a pub or two, and move along elsewhere. If not in the area, consider other options before making a special trip to Crescent Street.

Also, comments about aggressive youth and generally poor policing are correct -- at least at present. Take care to watch your belongings and your cash, and don't flash valuable items around.

This is the place to be in Montreal if you are looking to have a guaranteed good time. Trust me. My Dad actually used to live on Crescent Street back in the day...Still a tad upset he never kept his apartment!! The atmosphere is amazing, and people are in such great moods!! This is where the action is at ..... Definitely worth a visit!!

Crescent St offers many fine restaurant and bar options at many prices. If you don't want to spend any money take in the sites and people watch for free.

You absolutely must visit W&G Italian restaurant. Had to have been the best pasta I've ever had from a chain-type restaurant. Lots of clubs and restaurants. Street was PACKED bumper-to-bumper so don't try to drive there!! High energy area, lots of young people there from 10:00PM on. Saw a few bachelorette parties in progress from our dinner table.
