This is a great place, one worth returning to. I have stayed alone in the B&B part for one night and with my wife and 2 kids in an apartment (twice) for a week each time. The location is good - right across the park - wonderful especially with kids. Easy access to a supermarket - just 100 m or so - and restaurants as well. Well connected on bus and on subway as well. Everything inside the apartment and B&B is in excellent condition. The apartment we stayed in is nice and bright and cheerful. The bed rooms are off at the back, so they are quiet despite the building itself being on a main road. One of the bathrooms has a jacuzzi which everyone has enjoyed. The kitchen is fully equipped - pots and pans and cutlery and dishes and oven and microwave. The washer and dryer are in the apartment which is a real plus. Francois and everyone else is nice and friendly.

My husband, mother-in-law and I spent a wonderful few days in Montreal last spring and our home away from home, Chez Francois, was one of the highlights. Its location was excellent, because it was easy to get to all the spots we wanted to visit, but it was also right across from the beautiful Parc La Fontaine, where we enjoyed refreshing walks after a busy day of sight-seeing. Our host was not only a terrific chef, he was a veritable personal tour guide who was able not only to recommend places to see, but gave detailed, accurate directions on how to get there. The accommodations were charming, comfortable and cosy, and it was an unexpected bonus to have the use of the lounge to watch television, sit and chat with each other, and make use of the computer to keep in touch with home, and read restaurant reviews, etc. When we return to Montreal we will definitely be returning to Chez Francois

When we were moving our daughter to Montreal to go to university, we decided we couldn't stay in her messy flat with her four flatmates and were desperately searching for a reasonably priced b and b in her neighbourhood. Found Chez Francois on the web--right around the corner and with the most charming of hosts who personally serves up an extraordinarily delicious breakfast. We fell in love with the place and returned this year. Quiet rooms, beautifully appointed, right across from the park in a charming neighbourhood.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are a bit quieter but the shared bathroom is also quite acceptable.

This b&b is conveniently located near bus and metro, across the street from the huge and beautiful Parc la Fontaine, a few minutes walk from 'restaurant row' (Avenue Duluth) of the Plateau neighborhood. The b&b is comfortable, clean, simultaneously homey and classy, and the breakfasts are sumptuous and tasty; Francois and Isabelle are perfect hosts: helpful with advice and information, efficient but immediately warm and personable. I was in Montreal on business three times last year and regret that I only found this place on my third trip. It will be my first choice in Montreal from now on.

We love to travel with our 2 teenage boys and like to stay in B&Bs or apartments to better experience the local flavor. We were thrilled with our choice of Francois' apartment in Montreal. The accomodations were fabulous (great artwork, lots of space, free parking, great balcony view of the park, washer/dryer, tv with movies) and the location was perfect (across from park, near restaurants/grocery stores, close to downtown). Francois was also a good communicator and provided lots of details on Montreal events as well as answered all our questions. We have stayed in B&Bs all over the world, and this is at the top of the list! We will definitely stay with Francois again on our next trip to Montreal!

We stayed at Chez Francois over Thanksgiving while visiting family members in the area. The long drive from the states was tiring and we were so pleased to be given such a clean, quiet room and welcomed warmly by Francois. Over our 4 night stay, Francois accomodated us in every way -- fixing gluten-free breakfasts for my husband, and giving directions and tips on everything from exchanging money to the best place to buy a CD. Lots of little details show the care and attention to providing great service: guest slippers and umbrellas provided in the hallway, internet access and tv/lounging room, and use of the kitchen as needed. I very highly recommend this lovely B&B. We visited other B&Bs nearby and were not nearly as impressed. Chez Francois offers a good value, excellent location/rooms, and enough attention to be helpful --- yet privacy to provide a relaxing stay.

We stayed at this B&B during our round trip for 2 days in 2011 and found there everything you expect from an excelllent B&B.
They have their own free parking, behind the house, back from the street and the welcome was really friendly. Although we stayed there for the first time, it was more as if you visit friends and we felt comfortable from the first minute. The rooms offer all comfort, a computer with free internet service is there and Francois give you a number of really good advises for your stay.
The breakfast in the morning is freshly prepared by Francois and you sit together at a big table with other guest and can exchange your travel experiences and get information from other travellers. Francois makes everyone feels comfortable and tries to intergrate his new guests into the people who might be there since a couple of days.
The location is great - there is a big and safe park in front and all areas of the city can be reached by car or public transport. If we go back to Montreal - this will be our place to stay - definitly!
