Long and well maintained to walk under the wall but able to enjoy grand view of the St. Lawrence River.
Be careful in winter time as it gets iced up.

Looking out to the St Laurence River or up to the Chateau de Frontenac, both are gorgeous views. There are tons of street musicians and entertainment at all times here, but especially in the evenings. You can't take more than a few steps without hearing the music or acts of the performers.

This walkway winds itself around the Citadel wall, the views are awesome over the river, it is a substantial walkway, which takes you from the old town up onto Battlefields, on our visit it was very windy, so if you visit late in the year, wrap up well.

We started our walk from the fort area and then followed the promenade down to the Promenade des Gouveneurs. The best part of this approach is it is all downhill with only one staircase as opposed to going the other way which would involve many staircases. The promenade is spacious, with entertainment and access to shops and very close to the Cathedral de Notre Dame.

This boardwalk can be found near the Chateau Champlain and will take you West to the Plains of Abraham where the famous battle between Montcalm and Wolfe was held.

Be prepared for stairs, especially when walking from the Chateau, as there are a number that will take you up and around the cliff along the St Lawrence River.

As you stroll along you will enjoy the views of the city on one side and of the river on the other side.
