Description: Around a table with friends or with your better half, any occasion is good for a moment at 1640. Located in the heart of the old town, enjoy a great view on Frontenac Castle in a décors inspired by the golden twenties with a touch of modern. With a great Bistro menu specialized in meat, charcuteries, cheese and pizza, explore our selection of wine or our signature cocktails. The 1640, a must in Old Quebec.

The location is perfect but the food was just average. We had the pork chop and it was flavourful but the accompaniments were only just warm. The French onion soup was ok but again only warm. The maple brûlée was nice. With so many places to eat in old Quebec, I would give this a pass and try someplace else.

I had dinner here on a hot summery night after a very long day of walking through old quebec.
I have allergies to wheat, dairy and eggs. Upon explaining this to the hostess and asking if their menu could accommodate, I was provided with a couple of options that I could have so I decided to try it out.
The hostess passed along notes of my restrictions to the wait staff so I didn't have to explain again, which was nice. I had chicken with a blueberry porte sauce and steamed veggies (no butter). While I was initially told that the meal would be served with rice, it came out with fries. I prefer potato and don't have issues with cross-contamination, so I didn't complain. If you're celiac, you might want to double check that the fries are in a dedicated fryer.
Overall a nice experience and a great patio overlooking a lot of the action.

Oh my word, where to begin with this...
The location is superb in the heart of the old town.
The restaurant is beautifully clean, light and airy.
The menu for breakfast was quite extensive.
I had eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and goats cheese... But it also came with fruit on the side and even a tiny little cup cake.

It was awesome and exceedingly tasty and the cafe au lait was a lovely temperature so no burnt coffee beans!

It wasn't badly priced either!

If you're in Quebec for breakfast you'd be in for a treat if you visit here :-)

Lunch and evening meals also available.

We sat outside and felt very French! The service was very good. The breakfast dishes we got were good, also. It was a lot of fun.

While on my trip, I passed this restaurant and few times as our hotel was across the street. We didn't think much of the restaurant until we did a private tour and learnt the history of the restaurant. Had drinks, but couldn't not eat as we had reservations for another restaurant that same evening. While going through the menu is noticed they served breakfast with a twist(or maybe that's just me)😊.
Great portions, friendly and attentive servers. I ordered oj which had pulp, not my favorite. So the lovely lady strained it for me, that was very sweet of her. Home fries were delicious, very different flavors and crispy than what I normally get at other franchises. And you get a little sweet treat with your order 😊.
