“Ok but nothing to write home about”
Reviewed 15 May 2012 via mobile

I stayed at the hotel for a conference and while my room was clean, I was disappointed by the little things that It didn't include: a bathrobe, a fridge, shower gel just to name a few. However the bed was comfortable and I had no problem with the staff. Contrary to some people's recent reviews, I had wireless access in my room. Not sure why that's different. My one big complaint is that in my room, on the tenth floor facing the old city, the traffic noise was brutal and often woke me up. If you like your sleep like me, ask for a quiet room and don't worry about the view so much. For the price you pay, I would hope for a bit more but c'est la vie.

This is more a business hotel which is centrally located very close to the old town. The room we had had a nice view on the Parliament. Even though we stayed on the 14th floor we could still hear the city traffic which may be a problem for some sensitive people. Internet is payable and extremly slow. It is a bit surprising that you charge for sth which does not work. Otherwise no major issues.

The hotel is wonderfully located right next to Parliament and between two of the gates into the old city. The views offered by the upper floors are stunning and provide an unobstructed view of the river. However, the amenities offered by the hotel are quite average. The hotel only offers wired internet in the rooms; with wireless in the lobby, meeting rooms, and the executive lounge. Since I was there on business, my wireless password allowed some roaming around the hotel although the signal was weak. We found the Executive Lounge the best part of the hotel. The food and views were great, while the staff there was wonderful. We found the remaining staff very unhelpful. The valets were very snippy. The hotel restaurant was under renovation so we could not try it, but there are lots of wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

First the good: Location is excellent, a short walk to the old city and lots of shops and restaurants nearby, plus attached to the convention centre. Rooms are clean, albeit small, and comfortable (if a little spartan). I presume that the bathrooms were included in recent renovations, which shows. If you have access to the executive lounge, it is very nice and offers a great view of the city with large windows.

Now the bad: For a AAA 4 diamond property, it falls far short in service. When we pulled up to the hotel, no one offered to help us with our luggage (although they were quick to ask how long we'd be leaving our car there to check in). The concierge was simply nowhere to be seen at several times over a weekend day (including at noon and before dinner time). When we did see the concierge and asked him for a walking map, he simply handed it over and had to be pressed for suggestions (his brusque response: just walk around). Not the friendliest staff in general. Bath robes would have been a nice touch, but there were none. Corridors to guest rooms were very institutional and, dare I say, dorm-like. Wi-fi is only available in the lobby and lounge. Finally, although there is a small complimentary evening buffet for guests with executive lounge access, the food was rather gross (I guess you get what you pay for).

In sum, I expected better and this property would not be my first choice for future stays.

Great location next to the Parliament, 5 mins walk from centre of old Quebec. But rooms looking tired. No wifi in rooms and only paid wired connection. No minibar. Hotel was undergoing refurbishment of restaurant while I was there, so no bar, restaurant or full breakfast service either. Surprised no discount was offered for this.

So, due to my extended complain from my last stay, the Hilton finally reacted and offer us a rebate on a stay. I decide to took advantage of it with my wife & daughter during Easter weekend. We had the large suite on a top floor with view on a old-city, the river and the parliament... The view itself is something else - even if this is my hometown, it was amazing.

As for the stay, I encounter the same irritant than before where I had the feeling that the service was not genuine - the valet parking is still a pain in the neck and i still haven't met anyone there that is pleasant to deal with - it's always fake and painful. The room service is slow and the food itself is way below average - you can find better in most food court in any shopping mall... On top of it, the kitchen and room service were not available on the Easter Sunday...

The breakfast buffet is.... just awful: you're at the Hilton, in Quebec City where you can find some of the best restaurants in the country and there, they offer you cafeteria food: scramble eggs, industrial bacon, under cook roasted potatoes and prepacked butter, jam and peanut butter...

So this is it for me and the Hilton Quebec - I WILL NEVER STAY THERE EVER.

Room Tip: if you must stay there, choose a room on the upper floor with view on the old city - but do yourself...

The rooms were clean albeit a bit small. There was no mini-bar, which would have been fine if their restaurant/bar would have been open past 10:30-11:00. So no after dinner drinks. No body wash either, which I found odd. Probably a bit overprice for what it was. It have a decent gym though.
