As so many others have said (and why we booked the Hotel des Coutellier), this small hotel is a gem and I'm so happy we chose it! We stayed one night before a cruise, but I wouldn't hesitate to choose it for a longer stay in Quebec City.

Starting with the warm greeting we got and right up until departure, everything was perfect. The young woman who greeted us was so friendly and helpful, we knew immediately that we chose the right hotel. She was very helpful about providing lots of information about local dining. Since it had been a long day of travel and was late, we ended up purchasing a bottle of the hotel's wine and munched on nuts etc. from the snacks in our room. It was actually perfect for these exhausted travelers that day.

Our room was much more spacious than I expected, and spotless. The bed was comfy and robes were provided as well as a well-stocked snack bar (for purchase). Our room was very quiet and we slept well.

We loved how the continental breakfast was left hanging off a hook outside our door in a thermal bag. Quite ingenious! I felt like I was in France as we dined at our table with (real) utensils and cloth napkins. Wonderful!

I highly recommend the Hotel des Coutellier if you're ever in Quebec City.

When you walk into reception, you're immediately greeted by friendly, caring and knowledgeable staff. Our check-in process was smooth and we had our rooms right away. The room was spacious, with everything we needed for a short stay. One thing to note was that there was so much storage room, so if you're staying for an extended period of time, this is a nice place to unpack and treat it like home. The location was near all the key attractions in Old Quebec City, including Petit Champlain, Chateau Frontenac and also 5 minutes to Gare du Palais (main train station, if you're coming in by VIA Rail). My personal favourite part about Hotel des Coutellier was the basket of breakfast (included in your stay) that they bring you every morning. Each morning was a nice surprise to see what pastries we get and started off energized. I highly recommend staying at Hotel des Coutellier if you are visiting Old Quebec City.

OMG! We were SO happy with our stay here last month. We were here for 4 nights and everything about this place was awesome!

Comfortable bed. Clean & quiet room that was nicely and modernly furnished. Yummy continental breakfast (the ONLY thing amiss for this American was perhaps some fruit, but they did sometimes have fruit in the lobby). Attentive, friendly, helpful staff who spoke perfect English (shout out to Justin for a great welcome and the young lady in the daytime who was so helpful and friendly). Nice bathroom with shower gel, lotion, soaps, etc. provided. They have various snack & mini bar treats (available at an extra cost) in the room.

They leave your breakfast each morning around 7:00 a.m. (quietly) outside your door on a hook in an insulated bag. There was always a croissant and another type of bread or roll for each person along with an orange juice for each. One day they also included a yogurt, 2 days were cheese and one day was applesauce.

We asked for extra pillows and they provided them.

We found the location great for our needs. It's SLIGHTLY off the beaten path, but was about a 5 minute walk to a VIA RAIL station, which was perfect for us as we used the train to head to Montreal after our stay here.

I happily recommend this hotel and if ever I'm back, would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
