Beautiful day for cycling, 9 degree C. I started by Queens house in the West. Cycled on both sides of the river, past all the bridges and even beyond on White Swan Drive I believe. Nice rolling terrain, not too difficult. I was on my mountain bike. Walked the train bridge, stopped by the wier where I took pictures of some pelicans fishing & flying. Met several people, all friendly. As I was getting hungry, I ended up at the German Club eating jäger schnitzel. Several wrong turns before i got on Circle Drive and 105 km's later, I was back at my temporary home in Hafford. A beautiful day off.

The Meewasin Valley Authority oversees care and development of the South Saskatchewan River Valley from south of Saskatoon downstream to north of the city. It offers a myriad of walking and bike paths, picnic site, bbq spots, viewing spots for the river, wildlife viewing (beaver ponds, deer, coyotes etc) dog parks and just generally a pleasant area bordering the river to enjoy at one's leisure. It is the natural beauty that is engaging with very limited development.
The university grounds sit adjacent enlarging the are available for public access. There are a couple of public boat launches but due to recent budget cuts these are likely to either be closed to have amenities reduced.
The former art gallery slated to become a children's museum, the new Saskatchewan Art Gallery and the dock for the riverboat tour company are along the riverbank.
Both sides of the river are under control of the Authority with very little residential development restricting access and that does is what existed prior to the creation of the Authority.
All in all it is an excellent attraction good for exercise or leisurely enjoyment. It is a main part of the reason visitors and resident s alike declare Saskatoon to be "a beautiful city with so much park like space".

This valley is lovely, a Great Canadian Prairies adventure drive plus hike. This was one of many visits, most in the Spring, Summer and Autumn.

A great place to steel 8 picnic, stop for ice-cream etc. A great afternoon activity. There are always a lot of festivals going on and there is a riverboat tour you can also take. It is stunning scenery all 4 seasons.

The atmosphere at the Meewasin Valley Center is very relaxing. The scenery is beautiful and untouched. The displays are well done and very informative. The native cultural displays are very authentic and beautiful.
