Stayed in the new wing of this hotel June 2011. It is indeed on the edgewater.
Try to get a room facing first ave, and you can see the Yukon River on its endless journey to the Arctic Ocean.
Dont expect Marriott amenities, this is Yukon after all.
Rooms are clean, comfortable and fairly priced.
Staff was very courteous and country, I like that!
Pub is very cozy with good food.
Cellar dining was overpriced, and nothing special.
Hotel parking was a problem and should be addressed.
Would I stay here again, YES.!

In my experience of two stays at the Edgewater over the last four years, the gist of the prior reviews is right on. You don't stay at the Edgewater for the glamorous facilities or the cutting edge amenities; you stay here because the management is friendly, helpful and responsive, because the location in downtown Whitehorse is excellent, and because the rooms are comfortable and clean. Both of my stays at the Edgewater were because the hotel was strongly recommended by the two hunting outfitters I was using, and I can understand why they made the recommendation, as they knew that the hotel would reflect positively on them. And it did.

This is right at the bottom of Main Street in the center of the downtown. Rooms are nothing great but I think the prices are pretty fair for what they offer.

The walls are a bit thin so your neighbors can keep you awake.

This was our first visit to Yukon..and I'm sure glad we chose the Edgewater Hotel..not only was the bed and room fantastic..but the food was incredible..we travel all around the world because of my husbands job..which is great on a lot of different levels..we went to both restaurants..first evening we went to the bar & grill for all you can eat fish & chips and we tried the local beer.."bravo" for both..the fish was moist..you can tell that their stuff is home made..
The next night we went to the Cellar Steak House..going down didn't look too impressive but when you get there it sure was a nice, calm atmosphere..the menu was great..nice to see unique and different..the wine selection was amazing..the service was very pleasant..the food was the best I have had in many years..fresh, tasty, home made, I would recommend for anyone to go there..the Chef was fantastic as well..we ran into her leaving the restaurant..she was very pleasant & attentive but wouldn't give out her secrets..thank you for the great experience Yukon and we will return to stay at the Edgewater Hotel!

We stayed at Edgewater Hotel for two nights and liked it. The (double queen bed) room was a bit dark but well-furnished and clean. When we arrived it was very warm but they had AC that worked well. I loved the bed! The sheets and mattress were very comfortable. The stairs to the rooms, on the other hand, were rather ugly, and could be improved with some carpeting. This hotel is a really great place to stay if you're planning an excursion with the White Pass & Yukon Railroad, as their departure point is very close, just on the other side of the street.

The Edgewater Hotel is very convenient, next to the White Pass and Yukon Railway office in Whitehorse, so good for the early morning start if you are going on the rail trip. The hotel is a bit faded and shabby in places but the room was a good size, with a good bathroom and very clean. The room was well equipped with a fridge and a fan for hot days. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in the bar/grill and was OK. The roof terrace is only open some days and you can only go up to it if you want to buy a drink from the bar there.

This comfortable hotel hasn't changed much in the last forty years. The staff is friendly and helpful, the Edge Bar and Grill still serves up drinks and good food, the Cellar steakhouse has fine dining downstairs, and there is finally a roof top deck where you can get a cold beer and a smoky on those delicious long, warm afternoons of summer in Yukon. If you get a room on the east side of the hotel, you can see the Yukon River flowing fast, cold and dark, and observe the trolley that uses the original White Pass tracks to shuttle tourists along the waterfront. Prices are reasonable but parking is limited. The Edgewater remains a good recommendation in Yukon's capital city.
