We turned up for a meal in Havelock North on a summers evening and the moment we laid eyes on the terrace out the front of the restaurant we couldn't look anywhere else. The Post is a delightful and quaint restaurant and bar with a warm homely character. We were lucky enough to get a seat on the terrace that makes the most of the afternoon / evening sun. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the fish for the main, which I was informed was fresh from a local distributor, Hawkes Bay Sea Food, and it did not let me down. It was outstanding. The whole evening was delightful. We will definitely be back next time we pop back through the Bay.

We were disappointed with our meal. The meal was sparse and as I remember my husbands seemed a bit cold. We wouldn't go back sadly.

Nice spacious restaurant area, also nice small bar area, in the centre of town. Outside seating too.
We had bread & dip for 2 @ $7.00 which was good value for money and very tasty.
For our main meals we had the fish accompanied by vegetables. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked, as were the vegetables, but the vegetables were rather bland in taste. The presentation was excellent but quite a small serving, especially at $32pp. Service was good.

I dined here twice in November with a large group for the One Fly fly fishing competition. The Manager Paul was most accommodating for our large group of thirty and made sure all meals were served timely and hot from the kitchen. The restaurant was well prepared for our group with clean tables set up for us before arrival.

I thoroughly enjoyed the local New Zealand lamb and was impressed by the entrée of parmesan crusted lambs fry with a sauté of mushrooms. The main meal of pan roasted lamb rump, potato and kumara rosti, vegetable medley and thyme jus was just as delicious. The Te Mata 2013 Merlot Cabernet from Hawke’s Bay was an excellent complement. These meals were well presented and cooked to perfection. Well done to Alice the Chef who was most knowledgeable on the local produce and menu.

I highly recommend visiting The Post for delicious meal and an outstanding dining experience.

We dined here for the first time and had a wonderful night. The meal was fantastic. Well presented and very friendly atmosphere. Plenty of room so you felt you weren't on top of others. Loved it. THANKS
