We visited the Blue Angel Café twice during a recent visit to South Lake Tahoe. We hadn't read any reviews about the restaurant prior to going, but it looked very inviting on a Saturday night. The Blue Angel is casual and somewhat eclectic in its appearance and atmosphere--very fitting with the South Lake Tahoe vibe. The establishment is a big open room with a woodsy cabin feel with a large fire place at one end. The tables/chairs are comfortable, and diners have the option of sitting outside, temperatures permitting. The wait staff was friendly, inviting and knowledgeable. Entrée menu selections range from Beef Bourguignon to Salmon to Soft Tacos. We opted for the Taco Plate and Chicken Potpie. Both meals were flavorful, savory and perfect for our hungry appetites. The Mosaic Chocolate Cake and Brownie/Caramel/Pretzel combo (both served warm and a la mode) were off-the-charts! We were so pleased by our experience at the Blue Angel that we returned for breakfast the next morning. The breakfast options are not vast but they are satisfying. We each had a veggie burrito. The kitchen obliged and made one burrito "deconstructed" without the tortilla wrap. Both were very satisfying--and tasted very fresh. We loved the casual, unpretentious feel and delicious food at the Angel Café.
