We are coming to Goriška Brda for several years and tried this place because of the good ratings. We were a little disappointed and will not go here again.
The food we had was allright, but the main dishes were anything but large portions, in fact they were actually pretty small. Additionally there was nothing special or good about the dishes. We had Calamari, which were better any other place we had them before, and the seabass, which was one little piece with a bit of spinach and potato on the side. Like I said, it was not bad, but compared to other places in Slovenia pretty high priced for small portions and just average quality.
The house wine was allright, thus too a little bit mor expensive than in the other restaurants. Wone by the bottle is available at reasonable prices, starting at 15 Euro minimum. Wine by the glass is served starting at 2,50 Euro for 0,1 liter, which is clearly overpriced for a wine region like this.
They even charge 1,50 Euro per person for "plate" as it is common in Italy but not in Slovenia.
Overall we had the feeling, this restaurant wants to push the possible prices/ income to the maximum but is not delivering the matching amount of quality.
At the end we were served a digestiv "homemade jägermeister" which is a slovenian specialty and very good. Apreciate that.
There are a lot of much more satisfying restaurants in this region, I wouldn't go here again.

Seafood is marvellous. We also had 2 different local wines which were great. Waitress could be a bit more talkative but I understanding that English is not her mother tongue. Other than that she did great and was on top of everything!
Nice dessert & espresso!

My wife and I are so glad to discover this unpretentious and friendly place at the tail end of our month long European tour. Before Dobrovo, we dined at several fancier (and excellent) restaurants such as Steirereck in Vienna and Mille Sens in Bern, but this little restaurant and "neighbourhood" bar got us to really relax and enjoy the evening. We were impressed (and a little surprised) by the freshness of the seafood and later found out that the chef, Janez, sourced his seafood directly from the Adriatic Sea. It then dawned on us that Dobrovo is a lot closer to the sea than many major European cities where you find plenty of well-known restaurants serving seafood. If you go, be sure to try a pint of "Human Fish" from the tap. It is delicious and pairs with seafood as well as the local white wine. I seldom contribute to review websites, but I feel this little hidden gem is well worth sharing.
