We'd been regulars of the Jolly Frog for 20 years until September last year but the experience then had been so awful that we thought it would be our last. Last night we decided to give yet another 'new management team' a chance and went along for dinner. There was plenty on the sensibly much shorter menu to suit most people but they will cater to any dietary requirements. My wife is vegan and the chef (Andy) was very happy to create something special for her...which to me demonstrates that he is a real chef who relishes the challenge rather than some bloke churning out the same old, safe, dishes in a kitchen pinging with microwaves. The pork starter was so good I had it for dessert too!... and our clean plates tell you all you need to know about the other dishes. Sure it's never going to be the same as when Martyn and Jayne ran the place but this is a different experience. I wish them all the best and am pleased it's back!

The jolly frog has a whole new look and new menu. Had the belly pork starter which was lovely followed by a pizza cooked in the open pizza oven, children loved their pizzas. Will be returning shortly for the crab pasta and lobster. Lovely to have a fish focused restaurant back in the shire.

We had lunch on Easter Sunday and what a delight it was to see the Jolly Frog open again; this time, completely refurbished and under new management. Congratulations to Peter and his staff! The food was absolutely superb, the service good and there’s a wonderful wine selection. We look forward to many visits in the future

Returned to this restaurant after many years and found the new decor and food really good. Pork starter was really tasty and loved the pizza. Nice to see the red interior walls gone!

Don’t be put off off by previous reviews, there have been several changes in ownership/ management, but as from this week it is in the very capable hands of Pete Mace, lately of The Ducks Nest In nearby Presteigne. Better to use recent reviews of there. The Jolly Frogs fall from grace has been arrested and it is now a more more complex and sophisticated version of the Ducks Nest, in decor and food. A la Carte, bar and pizza menus can be mixed and matched giving a flexible approach in the heart of the north Herefordshire hills, minutes from Ludlow and well worth a short detour from the A 49.
