The owner of the guest house is a very nice lady, her family has a vineyard and a super-nice restaurant in the town, so you can get 'the feeling' of a high-quality, but very friendly touristic location. The rooms are big and neat with new furniture and they also offer relaxation at the sauna next to the house. They offer home-made and bio breakfast, and you can buy the wines at the reception. Mautern is 10 minutes drive from Wachau, but I would highly recommend to try it when you're looking for a nice place to stay in the region. Also for those who would like to go for bike-tours!

Liz and his husband Martin are lovely an always there for you.
The apartement was very big and clean, ideal with our 2 years old boy. The garden is full of games and amusements for the kid, and the "bio" swimming pool is really something.
The breakfast is very good and all the bio food you are eating made you feel little guilty :)
I had my bike with me and Martin was so kind to suggest me amazing rides.
It was a long trip from Italy but absolutely worth it.
Thank you so much.

I really enjoyed our stay here. It is a family business, the owners were very nice. The rooms are wide and clean, the bathroom was very clean and nice and the surroundings excellent for children. However, a little bit pricy for what it offers.

Stayed with my wife for a few nights while touring the Wachau/Krems/Kamptal/Langenlois area. Easy to get to by car and well situated in the middle of things. A car is strongly suggested for wine area touring, though. Service was up to standard and beyond. Most friendly staff I've seen in Austria. We got upgraded to a larger room just "because it was free" for those nights - spectacular service! The house is in good condition, facilities are great. The pool, vineyards, family made great wine, mostly organic local breakfast - superb. Wi-Fi was (for the first time) fast and completely included.

If we are in the area again in the future with kids, this would be our first and only choice. The amount of things they have for kids there is impressive - trampoline, slackline, all sorts of outdoor toys and swings - all within a house/summer cottage type of atmosphere. Not a busy hotel atmosphere, which was a major plus in our books.

Room tip: For a wine region traveller, a couple on a romantic getaway, but most importantly; for families!

If you are touring the wine districts of the Wachau and Kremstal, rest your weary heads here. Elisabeth and Martin Samek run a really relaxed, welcoming B&B. There's an endless fresh breakfast buffet, a sunny terrace to relax on whilst having breakfast and a garden with a wild 'Bio pool' where you can snooze off any excesses in some comfy hammocks. In the family is also the Nikolaihof Weingut which makes some superb Gruner Vetliners and Reislings. Worth stocking up as £ for £ these wines are as good as anything you'll buy in this renowned wine growing area. I'm sure we'll be back again.
