“Close to beaches, great accommodation”
Reviewed January 9, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed here for new year and loved the place. Lovely walk through the trees to the beach. Lots of nice places to visit nearby. Some of our group played golf, swam at the health club, went horse riding. On site restaurant was lovely too. Would be nice if there were swings or something for the children but otherwise great.

“A lovely very comfortable house for a family Christmas”
Reviewed January 9, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We enjoyed a special family Christmas at Puffin - the house was charming and worked really well for young people, adults and elderly grandparents including a wheelchair user - as well as two Dalmatians!

“A brilliant house in a superb location”
Reviewed October 19, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Puffin House is family holiday home that is well appointed, well located and quiet. It is so convenient for Pozeath beach, an area we have been coming to for many years. As the family has grown, we have wanted a really good home to holiday in so this holiday has been our second time in Puffin as we like it so much. I highly recommend Claire Derry's Puffin House.

“Puffin amazing!”
Reviewed September 3, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

What a wonderful pad in a fabulous part of the world! Kids dogs and grown ups were all very happy with Puffin House! From the minute we arrived (early) we were off exploring the golf course with the dogs! No fights over the rooms as they were all fabulous (pictures and reviews didn't do them justice)! It was perfect for our family/friends annual holiday! It had loads of things in the kitchen and music docking stations books and games etc! (I lost at scrabble! Outrageous!) We brought our own stairgates for smaller children and to keep dogs downstairs, and the garden area is very steep for little ones so some caution is to be had but it had lovely views and was a great sun trap! Loads of space/storage for golf clubs and body boards in the garage and an extra fridge for booze! Great big BBQ and Ice trays in the cupboard above the fridge. (We found them on the last day)! We love Polzeath beach (busy but lots of fun) and Daymer beach. A fun little 20min walk to the beach along a footpath through the golf course (lots of blackberry, sloe berries and other little treats) good run for the dogs!! We'll be back soon I hope! :-)

“Great house for our family holiday”
Reviewed August 31, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a wonderful week at Puffin House. Very spacious and well equipped house. It was an excellent location for our holiday with the facilities at the Point available at a reasonable price. Some of our party used the golf course and the swimming pool, restaurant was child friendly. Polzeath beach is only 5 minutes by car from the house, with dog-friendly Daymer beach just a little further. We cycled the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow - hired bikes with buggy and child seat - great fun. Enjoyed the Mowhay for morning coffee and light lunch. I would definitely recommend Puffin House and hope to return.

“A Great Place for a Family Holiday”
Reviewed August 19, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a lovely time at Puffin House. Well equipped and spacious, it's within walking distance of Polzeath Beach. Dog friendly Daymer Bay is not far, and it's a wonderful beach too.

“Puffin House - beautiful location and lovely house”
Reviewed July 1, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed at Puffin House during May half term week. We were a mixed group of couples and singles and 2 young children. We had a fabulous stay and a lovely holiday!
The house itself is spacious and easily fitted us all in with good combinations of bedrooms giving us lots of choice. Most of the bedrooms were huge and well equipped although the double without ensuite is a little cramped although we did not use it. The remainder of the house is again very spacious - the dining room is enormous! The lounge comfortably seated us all and was cosy in the evenings. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook meals without any problems on the couple of occasions we ate in. Our children are old enough to be safe on the stairs but if travelling with younger children, a travel stairgate would be a good idea!
Everywhere was clean and tidy on our arrival and the beds freshly made and ready for us.
The garden and immediate areas around the house are spacious and well kept although it should be noted that the back garden is extremely steep and if staying with young children like us, they would need to be with an adult if right up the top! The children loved the pond to the front of the house and spotting ducks! It was a nice touch that there were a few beach toys (buckets, spades etc) in the garage which could be used if you didn't take your own/want to buy.
The house is situated on the golf course and offers lots of facilities at the clubhouse. We did not have much mobile phone signal whilst at the house but the free wifi helped us with most situations and there is a landline (with honesty box) for local calls if needed. Some of our group used the pool and gym and took advantage of a weekly membership on offer if staying. They were impressed with the facilities they used. On one evening we ate at the clubhouse and had a lovely meal with good size portions at a reasonable price and plenty of choice for all including the children.
Puffin House is only a short few minutes drive to Polzeath where there are a couple of restaurants, a few shops and the beach. It is also possible to walk to the beach via a footpath which starts across the road to the house. We did this and it took around half an hour walking at the pace of 2 year olds!
There are lots of other beaches and places to eat within a short drive and we found some lovely pubs. On one of the roads in to Puffin House there is a lovely tea house which some of our group visited. It takes around 20 minutes to drive to Wadebridge where there is a Tesco which we used for supplies!
We had a lovely holiday at Puffin House and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a large house to use as a base to explore this part of Cornwall. We managed to visit Newquay, Tintagel, the Eden Project and much more and looked forward to returning to the house at the end of the day!
