I'm so happy that Barrington Passage has this great seafood restaurant! My husband and I enjoyed the yummy lobster spinach dip as an appetizer. Then he went for the Seastar fish cakes and a salad, while I had the Haddock Milanese. All were delicious. Sadly we did not have room for dessert. Maybe next time!

Capt. Kat's is one of those special seafood eateries that every community wishes they had. It is casual and comfortable, decorated in an unpretentious manner. The table service is efficient and polite. The response to any problems is the way customers can respect. While the food and menu is not 5 star haute cuisine, it is 5 star on its plateau of excellence, wonderful seafood comfort food1

We had lunch for three there. All had the lobster chowder and one had a salad on side. Chowder is among best in region. Lots of lobster meat. Light crumbly biscuits. The salad was way above average restaurant fare and creatively served. Has many variations on lobster (want to try fish cakes with lobster sauce topping) and also burgers, salads, fish and chips. Covers the local taste better than average. Nice desert menu and has craft beer and NS wine available. Was okay with price range when I saw the food quantity and quality.

Visited last year enjoyed a lobster chowder and bought a lobster. This years experience was most disappointing. Lobster chowder arrived with a thick coagulated skin over it and tasted and had the consistancy of evaporated milk. A lobster if they'd had one was $45 for 1.1/2lb. Toronto , New York prices. $12,99 at the airport. Won't go back.

Great lobster rolls,, no frills lobster shack. Friendly, energetic waitress (Debbie) was very helpful and knowledgeable about NS and where to visit.
