This restaurant has a reputation as the best in the area for serving traditionally seafood dishes. Based on my visit they use high quality ingredients and they do not over power the seafood with salt, fat, sauce and batter. This allows the natural flavor of the food to stand out more then is typical in the region. You can only do that when you stick to fresh ingredients and carefully preparation.
I had the “award-winning” lobster roll and my 4 table mated had various fish dishes. Starters were Kat's Caps – beer battered mushrooms and Bander's Bacon-Wrapped Potatoes. The mushrooms were a hit with the table. The bacon wrap potatoes less so as they lacked all the grease and salt that make them a restaurant staple. However, they might be a good choice with you are serious about taking your doctor’s advice, so I had more than my fair share. The lobster roll came with an eye catching presentation and I recommend pushing the lobster down into the bun to reduce spillage. One table mate had fresh haddock & a half order of clams and there was more than enough, I sampled the clams and found them low on salt which is prefect for me but others may want to add a little to taste. Another had a Fish & Chips and commented that the batter allowed more of the flavor of the fish to come through then another excellent fish and chip restaurant closer to his home. We finished with a slice of fresh peanut butter pie, which we all shared, nice rich peanut butter with a topping of whip cream, both flavors shared the my taste buds for a nice combination.
We arrived mid afternoon and there was only one other table while we were there, the restaurant décor was above average for the region, the waitress was very pleasant and interacted well with the table. We paid approx $50 with tax and tip food and beverages, one beer, sodas and a coffee.
