We used to frequent this hotel on our six to seven trips that side every year. Ended up having stale food very many times. Rooms were reasonable. The place has a very good view of hills and apple orchards though. Only if they could improve their quality of food. Stopped going there.

We had done online booking on HPTDC website and booked the Suite room, which is quite cheap. The rooms are bit old and carpet is rugged, but is quite big with separate living room. The hotel is on the Highway, so you get to see traffic outside from living room. We were lucky to get hail storm during our stay and the view from the balcony was awesome. You might have some issue with insects flying around at night, though mosquito net is there. Food quality is basic, but tastes very good - North Indian and Chinese cuisine available - no Tandoor food though, but you can't expect at such remote location!!. We like the Veg cutlet very much and the French toasts !!...Tea is of good quality. They have very good geyser (piping hot water) in bathroom. All in all - moderate & enjoyable stay...can spend couple of days relaxing in lap of nature..not much activities around except for a small local market where you can enjoy chai, samosa & mewa sweets !!

Room Tip: Choose the Giriganga suite, if budget permits - it nice, large with spacious bathroom and separate living room

We reached here from Delhi after a very long drive. The route till Shimla is good but after that it is a bit rough at some places since the maintenance work is going on. Overall the trip was very good , there is not much to see around there. You can take a long walk in the evening and enjoy the weather. If you are a nature lover you will definitely love this place.

Not much to do around except Giri Ganga Temple, where one can easily pass 2-3 hours.
Good one night stopover, however, connecting road is in bad shape at some points, which turned worse in rains, be cautious.
Hotel rooms and food is average, can't expect better at such locations, where even wi-fi and cell signal hardly reaches and keeps breaking.

Kharapathar is situated on the route to Rohru. The HPTDC hotel is situated on the sidelines of this nondescript town. The hotel is beautifully constructed and the facilities are like any other HPTDC property in a prominent location. The staff are courteous and helpful. The food quality is excellent and the rooms are spacious and hygienic. Overall, a very nice experience staying here and worthwhile for the money you spend.
