Stayed only one night, I was surprised and impressed at how clean the room was. The motel seemed quite busy but it was still quiet, although the walls did seem a bit thin and we occasionally heard our neighbour.
We were there for a medical appointment and was offered a medical rate, which was great! A local from Vanderhoof told me that we made the right choice staying here, that it's the best place to stay in town.
I just called this hotel to ask what their room rates were and I was passed from one employee to another (I heard in the background he told the other to read off the room rates sheet to me). She then took the phone and asked what I wanted and then asked me to wait a minute and then came back to the phone and asked me if I wanted the room for tonight. I said 'no, in a couple of weeks' and then she told me to call back tomorrow to talk to someone else. LOL. I then proceeded to tell her I thought this was quite funny, she didn't get it. I laughed a bit harder. So much for booking ahead and first impressions on customer service.
I was a little afraid of what I might find as far as hotels in Vanderhoof. I travel a lot for work and I can honestly say that I have never stayed in a quieter room. Not only was it quiet, but it was clean and comfy and the staff were friendly. While maybe not the fanciest hotel in the world, I got a great night's sleep and that is the most important thing!
We stayed one night on a road trip from Prince Rupert to Vancouver. The room was clean and comfortable and quite modern but the fan in the bathroom can not be switched off. It was noisy and rattled all night long making sleep very difficult.
In the morning when we tried to tell the owner?/manager after she had asked "how was your stay?", we were met with a very rude reception. She stated it was the law to have these fans running, that automatically detected humidity. There was no humidity that night, it was fresh and clear so the sensor for the fan must be defective. Instead of apologizing and saying she would look into the situation, she stood and argued with my husband for some time. My advice: Please take a course in complaint management. Rectifying issues is the only way to improve a business, arguing with your customers is not!
Compared to Logpile Lodge, Smithers and Barkerville B&B's it was not anything like as good, but it was more expensive than anywhere else we stayed.
This Hotel was a pleasant surprise following many hours of Travel. The space is generous. The bed is comfortable and the onsite restaurant was tasty. We had a bit of privacy out front that allowed us to sit outside and have a beverage.
