Nestled in the quaint heart of the Cazorla village, one of Spain's hidden secrets, lies the exquisite Hotel El Curro - a true diamond.

With its warm golden colours, the exterior welcomes you into a cosy, truly Spanish definition of hospitality.

Not only does it make you feel at home, but every single staff member balance their duty with a personal, comfortable and genuine heart-felt caring presence as well as their impeccable ability to provide you the best service of hospitality.

From its rooms - (I stayed in one that had a living space, kitchenette, two bedrooms and a bathroom, nearside the swimming pool), to the exquisite dining room.)

And the food - WOW!! Hand-prepared, fresh, local ingredients and mastered with beautiful presentation - you are spoilt with amazing choice and splendid, and the memorable flavours of Spain.

Hotel El Curro is suitable for all kinds of guests - singles, couples, families, business trips, educational services, everything.

The staff, led by Maria, provide the service right from the heart.

That is rare, but once you experience it, it will stay forever as a truly enchanting and wonderful memory. Not every place can do that -

You will be very glad to have experienced Hotel El Curro in Cazorla.

This is a truly EXCELLENT place and DESERVES an AWARD.

Room tip: Book in advance. If you are a company, request their dining menu options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Having read the previous reviews we were expecting much more. Felt the hotel was way over-priced for what was provided. We had room 301, which was very spacious, but with a tiny bathroom. There was a large balcony, but it had a wall all around, so when sat down, you could not see any views. The bed was uncomfortable & we both woke with backache. The room is quite dangerous as the bed is on a raised area and the room is tiled. When my husband got out of bed, he forgot about the step and fell, hurting his wrist. When I mentioned this, the lady in charge seemed to find it amusing! There was no fridge in the room and toiletries were very basic. On the positive side, the air-conditioning was efficient (though quite noisy during the night). However, we left it on when we went out as we wanted the room to be cool on our return (the area was experiencing record temperatures for July) but when we arrived back, it had been turned off.

We were unable to use the pool in the courtyard as it was swarming with wasps. However, there is a nice community pool in Iruela which we used for 2 euros each.

Breakfast was a complete let-down. There was hardly any choice, just coffee, toast & pastries. Each item was charged individually and we were even charged for a second coffee! Suffice to say we chose not to have breakfast on our second morning.

We always stay in 4* establishments and I do not feel that this one is worth the money.

Room tip: Beware the step up to the sleeping area in 301

This is our second visit to Hotel El Curro and it was better than the first. We knew more about the area and again the staff was helpful and very attentive. Being so close to the hiking trails is wonderful and the rooms are spacious, clean and are kept updated with new linens and towels and decorations. There are not a lot of restaurants but their staff creates excellent meals. I am already planning our next visit.

We stayed in this lovely little family run hotel for one night and was impressed with the service and amount of information given regarding what to visit and where to find the walking trails - the hotel restaurant is superb we had a fabulous meal. The kitchen is not open for breakfast although they offer a cold selection. Because of this it would have been really useful to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room - this would have made the stay perfect. Rooms a little bit old fashioned but nice and cosy with superb views on the balcony across the mountains.

It was a last minute decision to take a 2 day break in Andalusia to walk and explore. Based on the excellent reviews, we had no hesitation in booking Hotel El Curro and we were in no way disappointed. Our room on the third floor had a terrace with stunning views. It was very pleasant, spotless and comfortable with an immaculate bathroom. The menu was unusual and imaginative. The facilities were good (including excellent wifi reception) and the service from the family, in particular the señora who looked after the reception area and general administration and who gave us lots of advice about walks and things to see, was exemplary. Not much happens in Burunchel but the location is perfect for walking and exploring an exceptional corner of Spain and this hotel makes a perfect base. We couldn't have felt more welcome and hope to return.
