We went surfing for some days in Maitencillo and stayed at this wonderful Hostal and the southern end of Maitencillo. Even though its a little walking distance to the northern beaches of Maitencillo, it's the perfect place to stay if your are looking for a warming, clean and relaxed bed&breakfast. Clemente his wife and the staff is very nice and we learned a lot about Chile during our stay. Clemente speaks perfect english if your spanish is not that great. The rooms are made up every day including fresh towels. Breakfast or a glass of wine on the terrace is awesome with this beautiful view on the ocean.
Highly recomment this place!

Located in the top of the clift this b&b has an amazing view and quiteness. Nearby you can fly with a parachute, go to beach or walk to on beatifull trekking to Orcon. The owners are very worm people and the have a home restaurant with a outstanding Pastel de Jaiva. Nearby there is also an oustanding restaurant.

Last july, I had the chance to visit this hostel. The place around the hostel is really beautiful. You have access to the beach going down a ladder just right there. If you enjoy the calmness and the nature, this is your place, because you can appreciate the birds, woods, and the beach, of course. The best is the view from the hostel to the sea. The only problem with the hostel was the heating in my room (I visited it in winter). There was a stove, but it was not enough for me. The rest was perfect.

This is a really nice hostal - or rather it's more like a B&B than a traditional hostal like we think of in the US/Europe. The rooms are really clean - they have sheets and towels available - the breakfast is really good - and the shared bathrooms are clean and we never had to wait - there is also hot water in the shower with good water pressure! The location is a little outside the main town area of Maitencillo so it would be quite a far walk via the beach (and the 344 steps down to the beach) to get to the main part of town with more restaurants and shops. But it's on a beautiful cliff, across from a seemingly popular restaurant - Puro Natural or something like that - so if you do want to stay in that area at night, you can just go right across the street and eat! If you want to go to the main part of town, you have to drive but it's not toooooo hard to find parking by the beach. I would recommend the hostal - it's a really nice place to stay - but depends on if you want to be able to park your car and not have to drive throughout your stay or if you don't mind driving to the main beach. As I mentioned, you can walk down the 344 steps to the beach and it's practically private - not a lot of people and super beautiful - and then walk down the beach towards town - it's a really lovely walk!!!

Great small hostel and restaurant (the owner) just outside of town. Magnificent view of the Pacific with no one on the beach, but you. You have to be willing to trade the view and the privacy for a steep walk down to the beach, but no worries! It is a great spot. Well worth the visit. We would return in a heartbeat.
